Our team in Seoul works closely with lawyers in our worldwide offices to offer clients a broad range of advice. We assist with on-shore legal requirements in collaboration with major Korean law firms with whom we have strong working relationships. Our office in Seoul opened in 2013, though we had represented a diverse group of major Korean companies for many years previously. Since the US-South Korea and EU-South Korea free trade agreements were ratified in 2011 – which opened the Korean legal market to foreign law firms – continuing to build our Korean presence has been a priority for us. We are a trusted business adviser to Korean and non-Korean based corporate clients taking full advantage of our global network.
Pioneering the future
Innovation and a commitment to radical change are essential components of our strategy. This includes a strong pipeline of new services to support our growth and the growth of our clients. We are proud that our focus on innovation was recognised by DLA Piper being named as the winning law firm in the Moving the Market Forward category at the Financial Times Asia Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards 2021. The awards recognise lawyers, law firms and in-house legal teams in the Asia Pacific region that are at the forefront of innovation.
Action on climate change
In 2021 we launched our eMission 2030 campaign, focused on ensuring our people are kept up-to-date with our actions to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Our target is to halve our emissions by 2030, compared to 2019/20 pre-pandemic levels. As part of this commitment, we also established a network of eMission 2030 Champions. These champions provide local support for our environmental and climate change efforts, and inspire action in their local offices, including our office in Seoul.
