Sustainability and ESG: Our experience

What we’ve achieved

Sustainability and resilience at our core

The Sustainability Strategy team is responsible for our international business strategy for sustainability and ESG. We also work alongside the teams responsible for our operational strategy and external sustainability reporting, and for our pro bono offering, which has a sustainability focus.

Our Sustainability Strategy team also supports the primary governance body for the wider firm sustainability strategy, the Sustainability Steering Committee, composed of 30 partners, function heads and other key senior stakeholders.

Forward thinking solutions

Our Sustainability Strategy team are at the forefront of the external sustainability landscape. We are horizon scanning, generating research, analysis and insights on what could potentially impact our clients and support the development of our service offering. We work in an ever-changing environment. Every day brings something new.

Global prospects

We are the first law firm to have been appointed the Terra Carta Seal by the Sustainable Markets Initiative, founded by His Majesty King Charles III, and we were rated no.1 for ESG by Impactvise in its inaugural review of 1000 firms world-wide. We are one of the few law firms to be in the Blue Zone in both the Climate and the Biodiversity COPs, and we’re aiming to engage with all three Rio Convention Summits in the future.

Our Sustainability Strategy team drives these partnerships. They foster thought leadership initiatives and lead the way in developing client-facing project for our service proposition.

Natasha Luther-Jones, International Head of Sustainability and ESG

Climate risk and opportunity is now firmly established as a focus of governments, regulators, central banks, markets and other stakeholders all over the globe. There has been significant change in the past few years in the approach to and understanding of the fact climate is a business issue. But this is just the beginning of a journey for both DLA Piper and our clients.
