Knowledge: Our experience

What we’ve achieved

Expert teams

We are an international team, collaborating with a network of international lawyers to ensure our skills and expertise are unmatched.

Our team is organised into three streams: Legal Practice Quality Services, which fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and enhances our collective expertise; Research Services, which bridges legal and commercial expertise for our lawyers and marketing professionals; and Knowledge Services, which provides the foundation for the Knowledge Function, supporting the business in achieving our strategic goals.

Driving quality through technology

Our lawyers need access to up to date content, information and research support at the touch of a button and we collaborate with our Legal Technology and Process Improvement teams to introduce and drive innovative tools and practices to ensure this is delivered efficiently.

Our Knowledge teams work to support the firm’s objectives, engaging in focus groups and technology pilots and providing the “lawyer lens” on new products and initiatives, with a particular focus on the fast-moving area of AI, looking at AI-generated legal content, contracting and drafting.

Cross-jurisdictional community

Our international Knowledge team’s infrastructure is mature, engaging colleagues across the international platform led by dedicated Knowledge Professionals and Knowledge Partners delivering results that go direct to the quality of client service.

The strength of our cross-jurisdictional leadership community, comprising Country and Practice Group Heads of Knowledge, along with Knowledge Partners, underpins our success.

We have created and continuously maintain and grow our platform of DLA Piper gold-standard documents (many of which benefit from automation and interactive guidance) across the international firm, alongside curating examples of best practice.

We are responsible for all technical legal learning across the international firm, creating and delivering innovative training programmes alongside client facing lawyers ensuring a culture of continuous growth, improvement and knowledge sharing.

Our international research function links up the legal and commercial research requirements across jurisdictions and practice groups, providing expert guidance to lawyers using the best resources and materials. Our Commercial Research team are partnered with our Sectors, providing in depth client and market insights and research, and supporting with marketing and business development.
