We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Trainee to join our agile Restructuring practice group. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a complex and critical area of commercial law.
The Team
Our team has solid experience in various insolvency matters and complex corporate restructurings. We have worked as administrators in numerous bankruptcies and restructuring proceedings.
We advise management, shareholders, creditors, and other parties when companies are unable to fulfil their financial and contractual obligations or need to boost their business. We work regularly integrated with the law firm's other competence groups, mainly with Corporate, Banking and Finance and Litigation groups. Our office in Helsinki is part of DLA Piper's Nordic and the global restructuring team.

Main duties and responsibilities
As an Insolvency and Restructuring trainee at DLA Piper, you will have an important role in the team with day-to-day duties in bankruptcy and restructuring proceedings, and other insolvency related assignments. This role is fixed-term for 12 months and is part-time (3-4 days a week approximately 25-30 hours a week).
The trainee will support the Insolvency and Restructuring team in various legal and administrative tasks, including:
- Legal Research: Conducting comprehensive legal research on insolvency proceedings, corporate restructuring, and related commercial law issues.
- Document Management: Assisting with the drafting, review, and filing of legal documents, including court submissions, creditor communications, and reports.
- Case Administration: Managing and organizing large volumes of case documentation, ensuring meticulous record-keeping.
About you
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law in Finland, with a minimum of 180 credits accomplished.
- A demonstrable interest in or solid understanding of Insolvency Law and Corporate Law. Previous internship experience with insolvency matters and cases is highly valued.
- Service-minded and business oriented, who has control of deadlines, and does not step back under pressure or in a hectic environment.
- Ability to manage time effectively and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Finnish and English.
