We are looking for an experienced UK tax professional to join our International Knowledge team as a Knowledge Development Lawyer and to deliver market-leading thought leadership and MBD-integrated knowledge that elevates DLA Piper's UK tax profile and supports revenue growth. Working with the International Head of Knowledge – Tax, UK Partner leads and MBD, the successful candidate will design and execute UK-centric knowledge agenda that showcases our expertise to clients and the market, fuels campaigns and pursuits, and upskills our lawyers through targeted training.

The successful candidate will provide effective tax knowledge management supporting the UK tax team and the International Knowledge Team to enhance the ability of the UK and international tax practice to build brand profile within what is a highly mature and competitive marketplace for legal and tax service providers.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Set and own the UK thought-leadership roadmap aligned to priority sectors and themes;
  • Help develop and deliver on the Knowledge strategy for the UK tax team closely aligned with the Tax Practice Group, in line with the firm's overarching Knowledge approach, working closely with Knowledge team colleagues and fee-earners across the UK and our international network;
  • Enhance the quality of the UK tax team's practice and to be a role model for technical knowledge, skills, and advisory techniques in the team;
  • Develop and support on delivery of both client-facing and internal technical training with focus on UK tax matters and developments;
  • Champion the firm's vision for Knowledge and Technology across the UK tax team;
  • Ensure that DLA Piper's UK tax team are kept aware of legal, regulatory, and commercial developments and provide analysis of the impact of significant developments and how they will affect the practice’s business and its clients;
  • Partner with MBD to activate content: landing pages, email journeys, etc.

About you

  • Qualified UK tax lawyer (or equivalent) with strong technical grounding and proven ability to translate complexity into clear, client-centric messaging;
  • You will co-ordinate and work with fee-earners and the marketing teams to execute on the client-facing business development strategy of the UK tax team in close alignment with the International Tax Practice Group;
  • Provide routine provision of ideas and collateral to support the production of regular technical legal and sector updates for clients on UK tax developments and emerging market risks and trends and supervising/editing the final output;
  • Assist in the development of internal technical resources to build knowledge databases and precedents relevant to the UK tax team;
  • You will ensure relevant legal technical training for the team is in place, which will include preparing and updating training materials, delivery of some training sessions, and supporting fee earners to deliver training;
  • You will share knowledge on best practices and training;
  • Attending external training conferences to keep up to date with relevant developments in the law, business environment and Knowledge;
