This role is responsible for independently managing and coordinating pitch processes and key business development activities, including the preparation of client proposals, development of sector plans, delivery of legal directory submissions, and management of BD tools and knowledge repositories.

The BD & Pitch Specialist acts as a trusted partner for Partners and lawyers, providing operational and advisory support in client acquisition processes. The role ensures alignment with firmwide standards and contributes new solutions that enhance the effectiveness of pitching processes and strengthen the firm’s market presence.

It also involves close collaboration with the Marketing and PR team, particularly in the use of client, industry, and sector data to inform communication strategies and support initiatives that reinforce the firm’s visibility and competitive positioning.

Main duties and responsibilities

Pitching & Proposals

  • Preparing and coordinating client-facing pitch documents, proposals, and presentations.
  • Collaborating with Partners and lawyers to define content, narratives, and differentiators.
  • Ensuring that all materials are consistent with the firm’s brand and global strategy.
  • Reporting on pitch outcomes and conducting effectiveness analysis (evaluating win potential, advising on whether to proceed with specific opportunities).
  • Gathering feedback from lawyers and clients on reasons for winning or losing pitches and translating insights into recommendations.
  • Archiving proposals and documentation for each client opportunity in line with firmwide standards.

Business Development & Client Opportunities

  • Collaborating with legal teams to identify and pursue client opportunities.
  • Supporting Partners in cross-selling initiatives and client development activities.
  • Preparing analyses to strengthen client relationships and support business growth.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the utilisation of business opportunities, including sales pipeline tracking.

Sector & Strategic Planning

  • Implementing sector-specific BD plans using market and internal data.
  • Monitoring industry trends and providing recommendations for business growth.
  • Preparing reports and summaries for Partners and practice groups.
  • Designing client targeting plans for key and prospective clients, including in the context of events and networking initiatives.

Directories & Awards

  • Preparing submissions for legal directories and awards (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500).
  • Coordinating data collection and content from lawyers.
  • Ensuring timely delivery and high quality of submissions.
  • Collaborating with the MBD team to systematically collect and update credentials and reference data for rankings and BD purposes.

Knowledge, Tools & Technology

  • Maintaining repositories of pitches, credentials, and BD materials.
  • Supporting the implementation of pitch tools (e.g., Qorus) and CRM systems.
  • Updating templates and knowledge databases, ensuring their availability and relevance.
  • Coordinating the update and maintenance of CRM systems, credential databases, and other tools supporting BD and ranking processes.

Collaboration & Integration

  • Collaborating with other members of the MBD team on marketing campaigns, events, and strategic projects.
  • Integrating pitch-related work with broader marketing and communication initiatives.
  • Sharing knowledge and best practices across the team.

Other / Additional Responsibilities

  • Acting as a brand ambassador in all interactions with lawyers, Partners, and clients.
  • Proactively suggesting improvements to BD and pitching processes, tools, and templates.
  • Collaborating with other DLA Piper offices on cross-border and regional projects.
  • Collaborating with other practice groups and business support teams, sharing expertise and providing guidance to strengthen cross-functional initiatives.
  • Supporting onboarding processes of new employees and contributing to internal training sessions within selected areas of expertise.
  • Ensuring proper archiving and compliance in all BD processes and outputs.

About you

Education and Experience

  • University degree (preferred: law, marketing, management, economics, communications, new media) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in business development and pitching, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Proven experience in independently managing pitch processes from start to finish.
  • Experience preparing legal directory and award submissions.
  • Practical understanding of the legal services market and B2B procurement processes.
  • Excellent command of both English and Polish (spoken and written).

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), including advanced presentation and data handling skills.
  • Experience with CRM systems and BD tools (e.g., InterAction, Qorus, Vuture).
  • Ability to use databases and analytical tools for market and client research.
  • Familiarity with processes and tools for archiving proposals, managing credentials, and preparing ranking submissions.
  • Ability to prepare clear reports and analyses (pipeline, win/loss analysis, KPIs).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – ability to collaborate effectively with Partners and lawyers.
