Role Purpose
The Intelligent Automation Developer will play a key role in identifying, designing, and developing automation solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce manual effort, and improve service delivery across the Global Service Centre (GSC). Working collaboratively with Functional CPI Leads and teams across IT, HR, Finance, and Marketing & Business Development, the role will focus on leveraging technology to streamline processes, deliver measurable business value, and improve the user experience for both internal stakeholders and the wider firm.
The individual will work in close alignment with the firm’s central Automation Team to ensure all automations follow established governance, standards, and common ways of working.

Main duties and responsibilities
Process Understanding & Opportunity Assessment
- Collaborate with Functional CPI Leads and business teams to identify potential opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Support the assessment and documentation of current workflows, focusing on repetitive, rules-based, and high-volume activities suitable for automation.
- Engage with business stakeholders during discovery sessions to understand requirements, validate process steps, and contribute to workflow mapping.
- Translate business needs into clear solution requirements and basic technical specifications.
- Work closely with the central Automation Team to ensure alignment on methodology, standards, reusability, and governance of all automation initiatives.
Automation Design, Development & Testing
- Design, develop, and configure automation solutions using approved platforms (e.g., Automation Anywhere, Power Platform, ServiceNow, SAP/SuccessFactors connectors).
- Build reusable automation components aligned to established patterns and governance.
- Support solution testing by developing test scripts, troubleshooting issues, and completing defect fixes.
- Prepare deployment documentation to support controlled and compliant releases.
Deployment, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Support implementation into production, ensuring proper documentation and handover to operational teams.
- Monitor performance of live automations, identifying and resolving issues or opportunities for optimisation.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and escalate technical issues where required.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of automations, logic, dependencies, and change history.
Governance, Standards & Collaboration
- Ensure all automation solutions follow firm-wide standards, security requirements, and delivery methodologies.
- Work in alignment with the central Automation Team to support consistency, reusability, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, HR, and MBD as required to support delivery and ensure solutions meet functional needs.
- Promote awareness and understanding of intelligent automation tools and practices across the GSC.
Key Systems & Tools
The role requires proficiency or willingness to develop expertise in:
- SAP – core ERP platform for Finance and operations.
- SuccessFactors – HR and talent management system.
- SAP Concur – travel and expenses management.
- ServiceNow – service management and workflow automation.
- Automation Anywhere – robotic process automation (RPA).
- PowerBI – business intelligence and analytics.
- PowerApps – low-code app development for process digitisation.
About you
Essential
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand, map, and assess business processes.
- Experience with automation technologies such as Automation Anywhere, UiPath or Blue Prism, with the ability to apply core RPA principles across different platforms
- Practical experience using scripting or programming languages such as Python.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI).
- Familiarity with workflow and system integrations across platforms such as SAP, SuccessFactors, Concur, or ServiceNow.
- Ability to translate business needs into simple technical requirements and communicate technical concepts in business-friendly language.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Functional CPI Leads and cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting reporting or dashboard creation (e.g., Power BI) to monitor automation performance or benefits.
- Ability to work within established governance and delivery standards, following guidance from the central Automation Team.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a Shared Services, Global Business Services, or similar operational environment.
- Exposure to professional services environments, ideally within a law firm context.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Basic understanding of data governance, compliance, and information security requirements in an enterprise environment.
- Exposure to automated testing practices or structured release processes.
- Interest in expanding knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and intelligent automation technologies.
