Interns at DLA Piper are given real responsibilities, supporting our clients wherever they operate around the world. You will have the chance to learn through practical work and observation in a truly global firm, giving you an outstanding breadth of legal knowledge, as well as the practical skills that will stay with you for your entire career.

You will also be fully involved in our pro bono and knowledge activities. You will have the opportunity to interact with other DLA Piper offices and experience our “One Team, No Borders” way of working, to improve and test your technical legal skills internationally.

We are offering 6-month Internships starting from September 2025.

This internship role is for a fixed term. It is not a Bar traineeship role.

Main duties and responsibilities

Our team works on a wide variety of complex Banking, Finance, Capital Markets, Regulatory and Restructuring issues. Your workload will be varied to develop a depth knowledge of the financial services and real estate sectors.

Duties will include, inter alia:

  • Support to our team on leverage and structured finance, with a particular focus on asset and fund finance, and securitisation
  • Work on regulatory matters or (debt or equity) capital markets transactions
  • Assistance on restructuring and insolvency issues
  • Each time drafting the relevant documentation, liaising with, and taking instruction from, clients; attending client meetings and carrying out legal researches

About you

We are keen to hear from Interns with the following experience:

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in law
  • Excellent communication and drafting skills in English and French
  • A good command of German or any other language would be advantageous
  • Commercially astute and keeps abreast of key legal and business news
  • Personal commitment and learning attitude

Our hiring approach

Our hiring approach enables us to learn about the professional and person you are, and gives you the opportunity to learn about us. Your recruitment experience can differ depending on the type of role you are interviewing for. You will always meet your direct Line Manager for your role, as well as peers and close collaborators for the position. For some of our roles we may also use assessment tools, practical exercises, and panel presentations.
