Our firm is a people business. The Senior HR Manager is a strategic enabler and a true trusted advisor to the partnership and a leader to the HR team in Belgium. The role will develop and drive the people agenda for the region.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Enable the firm to achieve its strategy and business plans through the design, development and execution of an overall region people strategy, in line with the overarching people strategy of the international firm.
  • Partner with the Country Managing Partner to lead and execute the people agenda.
  • Establish strong relationships with Partners and colleagues across the firm, continuing the growth of the firm’s values and enhancing their commercial leadership and management abilities.
  • Where required manage complex employee relations casework, driving resolution in line with legislation and internal policies.
  • Support the firm’s commitment to DEI to embed an agreed action plan in the regions and ensure that leaders/champions are well supported in building a more inclusive future for the firm.
  • Lead, inspire and deliver through the team, ensuring that team members are developed, deployed and motivated.
  • In collaboration with the Centres of Expertise, lead the talent agenda for Belgium meeting business goals through the attraction, development, engagement, retention and deployment of individuals with the right capability to execute business goals as talent development, recruitment and retention, remuneration, performance management, career pathways, partner development, the work force of the future and diversity and inclusion.
  • Participate in the implementation of HR specific projects, taking a lead role where appropriate, to help align the workforce to the strategic goals of the firm. Bring thought leadership and advise on and anticipate strategic HR trends.

Skills and experience

  • Significant expertise in Human Resource, with a solid understanding of talent management, learning and development, talent acquisition, reward, performance management and workforce planning. This would have preferably been developed through extensive experience in leadership positions within multi-site, complex and matrixed organisations.
  • Successful experience in a similar level role, preferably with a significant element of legal and/or professional services sector experience, working effectively in a consensus-based partnership structure and culture.
  • An experienced leader who can show a track record of developing team capability, aligning a team to deliver against core strategic HR objectives.
  • Experience of working in an international business is desirable.
  • Demonstrable success in partnering with and supporting a business through strategic change.
  • Self-assured, naturally inspires confidence in others, quickly building trust and demonstrating innate discretion.
  • Capable of delivering clear and impartial advice in a consultative manner.

Our hiring approach enables us to learn about the professional and person you are, and gives you the opportunity to learn about us.
