The role of the MBD Executive in the Business Advisory team is wide-ranging. You will need to be comfortable jumping in and getting involved in many different areas of growing the business across a range of marketing and business development channels – brand, comms, digital, events, and marketing operations. While this is predominantly a support role, the opportunity for managing your own initiatives is significant and is fully backed by mentoring and training. The role significantly supports the Senior MBD Manager and the other members of the MBD team where possible.

In the early stages of the role, you will focus mainly on supporting the MBD team to build profile in DLA Piper and the external market for our Business Advisory team. As the role develops, you will need a strong understanding of the consultative selling sales cycle.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Work with advisory teams and sales leaders to support client development, with the principal objective of growing relationships and revenue with strategically important clients.
  • Co-create and execute targeted marketing campaigns to raise our team's profile and win new business.
  • Develop and implement enablement tools to provide client development teams with useful supporting data, including through the credentials database.
  • Work with sales leaders to ensure all leads generated by MBD activities, such as campaigns and events, are moved methodically through the sales pipeline.
  • Support Business Advisory's participation in DLA Piper client events, including roundtables, webinars and larger in-person events.
  • Arrange insightful market research on companies, industry sectors and countries.
  • Manage the production of marketing and business development content from concept through to distribution.
  • Co-develop standardised pitch materials for access by the firm's pitch team and Business Advisory solution teams.
  • Identify, and coordinate Business Advisory involvement in, relevant sector, client, practice group and interest group forums.
  • Devise and implement digital marketing initiatives through the DLA Piper website and social media channels, with occasional email use.
  • Contribution to, and execution of, the regional MBD plan and communications plan.
  • Develop compelling narrative on our value proposition and communicate this effectively to stakeholders and in client-facing materials.
  • Elevate the quality of our visual identity within DLA Piper's brand guidelines.
  • Report ROI on all MBD activities to better inform future efforts.
  • Manage marketing software, systems and support services.

About you

  • First-class written, communication and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of professional services MBD, with a sound understanding of new business processes, digital marketing, CRM and tools that will help us win engagements.
  • Positive and proactive attitude, and able to operate both as an individual and collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, stakeholder management and client care expertise.
  • Understands the importance of a consultative sales process.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity as we grow and develop.
  • An appreciation of the nature of professional services firms.
