The whole legal industry is changing. The old establishment is gone, and there’s a new establishment in town. It’s an exciting and dynamic future, which we at DLA Piper are leading.

It’s a new business world, with new client needs. Clients want more than legal advice, they want strategic business advisers that cross borders and geographies. They want global insights with local savvy. And so do we.

DLA Piper is a firm built for this rapidly globalising world, and we’re looking for people to join us on this mission. We’re looking for people who see the world differently, who listen to clients, and solve their problems, not just give legal advice. Being well read is good, but being able to read the room is great. We’re looking for people to help make business better for our clients.

Why do you want to work with DLA Piper?

•       Access to a global network and resources

•       Strategic involvement in clients’ businesses

•       A supportive and collaborative environment

•       Rewarding pro bono work

•       A diverse and inclusive culture

We are looking for a Senior Solicitor/Senior Associate with expertise in technology transactions and/or data protection advisory work to join our Intellectual Property and Technology team. The role is based in our Auckland office. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years' PQE with a significant portion of that time spent in IP and Technology/TMT practice groups.

We have a rapidly growing practice, with blue-chip local and multinational clients who value DLA Piper's unique ability to bring the expertise of the firm's market-leading global expertise to New Zealand. You will have the opportunity to build on your experience, working on market-leading technology, sourcing and data protection matters.

About You

The ideal candidate is an experienced (PQE 4-7 years) Senior Solicitor or Senior Associate. You will be ready for a new role that will make the most of your versatility and commitment to client service. You preferably have spent time in a full-service firm practising in an IP and Technology/TMT team. You might be returning to New Zealand from overseas and looking to establish your profile in the local market while staying up-to-date with international trends, you might have existing New Zealand experience and be looking for a new challenge.

To be successful in this role you will need to have a strong client focus, as well as excellent legal, analytical and interpersonal skills that allow you to deliver commercial solutions for clients. We are seeking someone who is driven to achieve results while also contributing to a supportive, close-knit team environment.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you will need to be highly motivated and have outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload. We are looking for a team player, who will continue to offer the high levels of service that DLA Piper's clients have come to expect.

A career with DLA Piper

In return, you get to join a global firm that can offer excellent career development, either in New Zealand or abroad. We are committed to providing outstanding learning and development opportunities, secondment opportunities, and a collaborative and supportive environment.
