We are looking for a motivated Associate to join our Corporate practice in Auckland.

This role offers the chance to take the next step in your career, advising on a broad range of corporate transactions and commercial advisory matters for a strong international and domestic client base. You will work closely with senior lawyers and partners and have the opportunity to progressively take ownership of key aspects of client matters while continuing to build your technical expertise and commercial capability in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

About the Team

DLA Piper’s Corporate team is known for its market-leading expertise in complex, cross-border transactions. In your immediate team of seven, you’ll support three partners, while taking an active role in supervising and mentoring junior team members.

You will also be part of the broader Corporate team, which includes seven partners and approximately 30 lawyers across Auckland and Wellington, with regular collaboration across our international offices.

About You

We are seeking someone who brings:

  • Some New Zealand experience in a top-tier or international firm ideally
  • Strong foundation in corporate, transactional, or projects work
  • Ability to manage discrete components of matters with increasing independence
  • Confidence communicating with clients and managing day-to-day interactions
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, collaborative, and commercially minded approach, with a willingness to take ownership while seeking guidance where appropriate

The following would be advantageous:

  • Exposure to overseas investment regulations and consent processes
  • Experience working with international clients
  • Interest in the energy, renewables, natural resources, or forestry sectors
