THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual who wishes to be part of an innovative, client focused team.
The successful candidate will have a broad range of Finance responsibilities across all of the businesses within the Aldersgate Group.
The Aldersgate Group is currently comprised of five entities, those being DLA Piper Business Advisory, TOKO, Aiscension, Aldersgate Holding Company Limited, and Aldersgate Funding. Aldersgate Group companies have a presence in several jurisdictions including Australia, the UK, Europe, Dubai and Hong Kong. Each company operates as a separate entity under the broader Aldersgate structure. The Head of Finance will work closely with the Aldersgate Leadership team to provide budget assurance, performance improvement, strategic financial leadership and proactive financial support.

Aiscension
Aiscension is a cartel risk-management service that uses AI to help detect risks in our client’s business. It combines Reveal's best-in-class AI tools with DLA Piper’s renowned legal knowhow to audit parts of our client’s business. 

Litigation Funding

DLA Piper clients now have access to GBP150 million of committed capital for litigation or arbitration claims, including claims that vest in an insolvent estate. We have established an entirely independent company, Aldersgate Funding Limited (AFL) to facilitate this which is backed by AIM listed Litigation Capital Management (LCM). AFL offers excellent funding terms driven through its portfolio structure.
 
TOKO

We've launched TOKO, a unique tokenisation engine and vital component in the digital asset ecosystem that provides smart contract functionality and digital asset creation functionality and assurance. TOKO helps asset owners create unique product offerings and improve asset liquidity and gives them access to a wider group of investors.

DLA Piper Business Advisory: Integrated M&A and Sustainability and ESG

Our Integrated M&A solution combines legal and advisory services for the entire M&A journey from pre-deal M&A strategy and ecosystem review, to post-deal integration and deal review, improving M&A outcomes for clients. Our Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance offering goes beyond legal advice. We offer an integrated legal and business advisory solution across environment, social and governance factors to design and implement sustainability strategies that mitigate risks and create sustainable value for clients. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide financial support to the Aldersgate management team, identifying and leading initiatives to improve financial performance relating to reporting, profitability, working capital and financial efficiency
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports for budget holders and stakeholders including recommendations to address any variances to revenue and cost budgets
  • Act as the key finance interface between the DLA Piper International Finance team and the Aldersgate team, co-ordinating with different specialist and international teams on projects or issues as required
  • Co-ordinate with external accounting providers in local jurisdictions and liaison with auditors to maintain the group and local accounting records, providing monthly management financial information including cash flow forecasts and contribute to the preparation of the annual consolidation and filings
  • Actively contribute to the preparation and delivery of quarterly strategic business reviews
  • Provide ad-hoc support in relation to pricing and broadening commercial awareness around pricing to the Aldersgate business
  • Ensure that an adequate system of internal controls and compliance with Aldersgate Group accounting policies and processes is in place and maintained
  • Contribute to and co-ordinate local tax and regulatory and statutory reporting, including annual accounts, corporate income tax declarations and VAT declarations as required
  • Where appropriate, maintain relationships with local banks for day-to-day transactions, reporting cashflow forecasts
  • Manage the annual budgeting process for the Aldersgate group businesses and contribute to the presentation of the firmwide budget for approval by Aldersgate Leadership and DLA Piper
  • Lead the reforecasting process to actively monitor and manage financial risks and opportunities for and provide an updated view of trading to Aldersgate Leadership and stakeholders
  • Monitor performance against long-term strategic and short-term operational plans and assisting the leaders formulate the necessary actions to be taken to achieve agreed financial targets
  • Working on ad-hoc projects including financial modelling for specific initiatives, such as recruitment activity, new solutions and geographic expansion 

ABOUT YOU

  • ACCA / ACA / CIMA qualified with 5+ years PQE
  • Finance experience within a professional services business is preferred but would consider similar experience in other sectors.
  • A high degree of commercial acumen with exceptional analysis and financial modelling skills and evidence of applied strategic thinking/planning
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and has strength of personality to ensure the Finance view is clearly communicated. 
  • Well-developed soft skills with the gravitas to influence or challenge senior stakeholders when necessary and to gain respect as a trusted advisor
  • A continuous improvement mentality to support development of self, colleagues and business processes and interactions
  • Great team working skills and a passion for delivering results
  • Ability to flex working style to collaborate across functions and geographies and adapt to change
