THE OPPORTUNITY

Our growth ambition resulted in a requirement for a Business Development Advisor. We are looking for a professional with the ability to contribute, coach and support the team in realizing our team and firm’s ambitions.

You will work across international business services teams and advise the various practice groups and sectors; providing them with knowledge, resources and tools that will help them deliver exceptional service to our clients. Further, you will work alongside the colleagues in the MBD team in which your will have a senior role to drive our positioning, marketing and business goals forward. 

The Marketing & Business Development team consists of eight colleagues that deliver a broad range of key marketing, communications and business development services for the Amsterdam office, designed to grow the firm's market positioning, revenue and profitability. In our team, we work closely  with the lawyers, notaries and tax advisors to explore new business opportunities and market DLA Piper and its individuals, externally. The working environment is dynamic and fast paced so no two days are the same. 

In the role of (Senior) Business Development Advisor you have a key role which enables you to build a network and work with many international practice groups, our international Marketing & Business Development colleagues and other business services teams such as Finance, Human Resources and Service Delivery & Quality. You will join an enthusiastic and experienced team that has a great spirit to bring their support to the next level.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for business development (key/priority) client and sector related go-to-market initiatives – this includes account management, developing, driving and facilitating key client  and sector initiatives, internal and external evaluations, campaigns and pitches that are directly related to the development and dynamics of practice groups and sectors
  • Manage go-to-market campaigns relates to ESG, Sector initiatives and other offerings
  • Drive pitches for (your) key/priority clients in cooperation with our pitch experts
  • Lead our local key/priority client development program and support the Directories programme in order to ensure continuity in our support; and
  • Educate the business on how to intensify their account management activities on relationship building and opportunity management.

ABOUT YOU

  • Able to work within a matrixed organization - balancing the needs of the client against firm initiatives and goals
  • Able to collaborate across multi-disciplinary areas, including senior stakeholders across DLA Piper at national and international levels
  • Coaching the MBD assistant, Pitch Coordinator and working student
  • Ability to flex your style and versatility according to EQ is key
  • Passionate about collaboration, team work and sharing best practices; and
  • Ability to operate calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities

Who are you 

  • HBO or University degree, preferably in business, communications, law or commerce
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in this field of expertise
  • Experience with account management, project management and pitching
  • Strong organization skills and ability to distinguish between urgent and important tasks
  • Eye for detail, pragmatic and good analytical skills; and
  • Excellent people management, verbal and written communication skills (fluent in English)
