The role

THE OPPORTUNITY 

The Head of IT SAP Platform is responsible for ensuring the service delivery of  the SAP S4HANA platform and integrated interfaces for DLA Pipers Finance and HR Systems.

  • Accountability for delivery of SAP platforms and related IT services
  • Bridge the demand for SAP platforms and related services in DLAP environment
  • Achieve operational excellence through provision of high-performance SAP landscape and IT services to DLAP business and support functions
  • Periodic governance of SAP landscape
  • Stakeholder management: functions, Service Managers, CoE roles, vendors for management of day-to-day work
  • To deliver:
  • Continued relevance and high performance of SAP landscape in DLAP environment
  • Operational excellence in management of SAP landscape and delivery of related IT services
  • Higher customer/stakeholder satisfaction

About the Team

The IT SAP Platform is a new service offering within IT to support the new SAP platforms covering HR and Finance Services.  The team has been formed to cover end to end service levels to the business services within DLA Piper and his supported by an underpinning 3rd party to provide Level 3 Application and platform expertise.  The IT SAP Platform works within IT and collaborates with other teams within IT and Finance Systems to ensure that ITIL best practice is followed and that consistent resolutions are delivered to the business.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and provide strategic direction and oversight of SAP platform landscape operations and engineering
  • Ensure timely management of SAP related demand and alignment of platform/service portfolio to fulfil the same 
  • Work with Enterprise Architects to align SAP platform strategy with IT Architecture
  • Establish/maintain the relevance of the SAP platforms within the DLAP enterprise
  • Engage with Platform Service Managers to ensure the platform goals are met
  • Guide Platform Service Managers on adoption of industry leading practices/frameworks in the support/enhancement of SAP platforms
  • Identify/advise on optimization opportunities involving SAP landscape and associated IT service portfolio
  • Manage/resolve issues reported by SAP teams (internal and vendor)
  • Work with vendors in planning the backend upgrade activities of the SAP applications
  • Support Service Managers in resolving any issues with vendors
  • Ensure periodic governance of SAP landscape. Ensure proper communication of leadership vision/objectives to SAP teams. Provide periodic performance updates to leadership. Conceptualize/track KPIs to measure achievement of objectives
  • Engage with / report to business/support functions on service delivery for SAP landscape
  • Report to IT leadership on the performance/plans of the SAP landscape
  • Approve/source budget for implementation of demands/projects in SAP landscape
  • Determine project objectives/critical success factors (CSFs), govern project implementation and approve project deliverables
  • Work with Disaster Recovery teams to ensure periodic DR testing of SAP landscape

ABOUT YOU

The role holder will have experience of working on large-scale international business transformation programmes, matrix service organisations or Enterprise / global services preferably with experience of working on programmes that involve the introduction of new technology and have:
Basic Requirements:

  • 5 years experience of implementation of Enterprise solutions
  • 5 years of experience in a senior service delivery role
  • Certifications: PMP, TOGAF, ITIL v3 Expert, COBIT, or SAP Certified Application Professional
  • Experience in leading large-scale Transformation programs
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent education
  • Competent with working is strict controlled environments in line with policies, procedures and processes
  • Experience with using Service Now and Management Reporting
  • Proven experience of SAP or ERP Service Support – ideally within the legal sector and/or professional services or global scale environment. 
  • Self-starter who thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced business environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
