We are now looking to appoint a new Business Change Manager, who in collaboration with other senior stakeholders will be an integral part of this transformation and its delivery. 

The role holder will be an experienced, highly credible change leader, accountable for ensuring efficient delivery of the Firm’s Change portfolio. The purpose of the role is to provide a central change management authority and governance for the DLA Piper Change Portfolio and other change initiatives or projects resulting in business change, create an enterprise approach for the firm on preparing for and managing business change by working with various business stakeholders including adoption leads and business change managers. 

The role requires a dynamic individual, energetic and enthusiastic, with the skills, knowledge and attributes to work flexibly and autonomously within our fast moving and changing environment.


Capability and Process Development

  • Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders to create a business change management strategy, including process and tools to support adoption of the changes being delivered by a project or initiative
  • Be accountable for creating a roadmap to a shared standard model of change management used firm wide, including a common set of tools, standards and deliverables
  • Participate in the governance of portfolio management to embed new capabilities that ensure change initiatives are impact assessed with a keen focus on the people side of change, including business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organisation structures
  • Provide portfolio level assurance, governance and reporting of benefit realisation data to the Project Management Office to help measure the value of Portfolio Delivery across the firm
  • Support the design, development, delivery and management of joined up communications, and work with the DLA Internal Comms team to maintain a central view of ‘change saturation’ and timeline for when various projects and initiatives are impacting stakeholders
  • Work with peers across change delivery to identify opportunities for continuous improvement within the department, whether it be via implementation of new ways of working or leveraging existing successful solutions or processes

Change Delivery

  • Utilising the future principles and frameworks developed for change management, work with project teams to plan and drive faster adoption, higher utilisation of and proficiency with the changes that impact employees. These improvements will increase benefit realisation, value creation, ROI and the achievement of results and outcomes
  • To support project teams in integrating change management activities into their project plans with measurable critical success factors for the adoption of change
  • Ensure correct metrics supply the necessary data to reinforce user adoption and drive effective implementation that supports sponsors and senior stakeholders to overcome resistance and barriers to adoption and value realisation
  • Engage with clients and recipients of change to ensure they are fully supported in the understanding, implications and benefits of the change through the provision appropriate support mechanisms e.g. guidance notes and online support

Management and Coaching

  • Have management responsibility for a flexible team of specialists, who assure the delivery of the project's outcomes on day-to-day basis (conducting change readiness assessments, change impact assessments, and business readiness to adopt the change and sustain the change once the project has concluded
  • As well as defined supervisory responsibility for change teams, to create and maintain a semi-permanent change network in the business across practice groups and geographies
  • To champion and act as a coach for senior leaders and executives in helping them fulfil the role of change sponsor.
  • To provide direct support and coaching to all levels of managers and supervisors as they help their direct reports through transitions


  • Able to handle multiple priorities, working to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Able to build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally with a focus on key stakeholders
  • Have significant experience of managing business-facing change in a complex matrix organisation
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences in a variety of styles and media
  • Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations
  • Resilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevere
  • Organised with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics
  • Problem solving, solution-foccused and root cause identification skills
  • Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
  • Change management certification or designation desired
