The role


We are currently recruiting for an Associate to join DLA Piper's global Financial Services Regulatory team, which sits within the Litigation and Regulatory Group in Dublin. 

The role will focus on all aspects of Financial Services Regulatory, advising a diverse range of regulated clients across a range of sectors including banking, MiFID, PSD2, Solvency II, IDD, and FinTech. The successful candidate will gain direct experience in all aspects of FS Regulatory, including in inspections, investigations and enforcement.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to be part of a broader international Financial Services Regulatory team at DLA Piper which comes with an opportunity to share expertise, advise international clients on cross-jurisdictional issues and to travel to other DLA offices around the globe. 

Uniquely, while the primary focus of this role is advisory, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be involved in advising on high value, complex and cross-border litigation disputes and regulatory investigations.  


As part of our market-leading global team, candidates will enjoy a broad range of work, acting for domestic and international clients, which will include:

  • Advising on all aspects of Irish financial services regulation
  • Advising a broad range of regulated firms on authorisation, governance and regulatory compliance
  • Advising financial services clients on all aspects of Central Bank Codes/Standards etc.
  • Advising clients on regulatory inspections, investigations, dawn raids, and enforcement matters
  • Advise clients on internal investigations, fitness and probity and whistleblowing
  • Represent clients in commercial disputes relating to regulatory decisions
  • Advising on regulatory requirements in the context of change of control as well as regulatory due diligence
  • Strategically advising clients and managing regulatory relations and regulatory risk


We are not setting an upper or lower limit of PQE for this role, or roles.  We are happy to consider applications from candidates of all levels of experience. 

The ideal candidate will have an interest in developing a career in FS regulatory advisory and:

  • Have an understanding of the regulatory framework which governs financial services firms in Ireland
  • Have experience across a range of financial services sectors or have more in-depth expertise in one or more of the sectors
  • While being able to demonstrate an understanding of the issues relevant to the Firm’s clients
  • Have a solution-oriented and commercial mindset
  • Be able to handle multiple priorities, working to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Recognise and enjoy identifying opportunities for the firm, including being able to build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, both internally and externally
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and play an active role in contributing to business development initiatives in the department and
  • A desire to work in an energetic, collaborative and flexible environment
