DLA Piper's Tax Controversy team is growing, and we're looking for a talented Solicitor to join our Melbourne office. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside internationally recognised Partners and tax specialists, advising leading Australian and multinational clients on complex, high-profile tax controversy matters.

You'll gain exposure to a broad mix of tax controversy work, including in ATO reviews and audits, objections and litigation. You'll work on sophisticated matters spanning all industries, particularly technology, energy and infrastructure, all while collaborating with colleagues across Australia and our global network.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Advise clients on complex and strategically important tax matters from day one
  • Be deeply involved in tax disputes, litigation and controversy work
  • Work closely with Partners and senior lawyers on high-profile matters
  • Build trusted client relationships and contribute to exceptional service delivery
  • Collaborate with tax and transfer pricing specialists across Australia and internationally

About you

You may already have experience in tax advisory, tax disputes, litigation or broader commercial law and are looking to deepen your expertise in this highly specialised area. You'll bring:

  • 2-3 Years PQE
  • Tax controversy experience, particularly dealing with general anti-avoidance, transfer pricing and tax treaty issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent drafting and communication abilities
  • Attention to detail and sound commercial judgement
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to outstanding client service
