DLA Piper’s Dutch and Belgian MBD teams operate as an integrated regional team under the leadership of the Head of MBD for Belgium and the Netherlands. This reflects the increasing overlap between the Belgian and Dutch practices and the need for a leaner, more efficient and better aligned MBD structure across both locations.

This role is focused on events, marketing activation and internal communications. It is designed to strengthen local market visibility as well as marketing and BD delivery while also supporting selected shared NL/BE marketing and BD priorities where appropriate.

The role will primarily support the office in which the successful candidate is based, Brussels (preferred) or Amsterdam. At the same time, the Advisor will work closely with colleagues across both countries to create synergies, bridge capacity gaps and ensure that marketing and events activity is delivered in a more joined-up and professional way.

This is not an event-only role and not a broad generalist BD role. The focus is on activating MBD priorities through internal visibility, client events, sponsorships, local campaigns, social content and practical marketing delivery. We are looking for a dynamic team player who wants to grow in an international environment and enjoys connecting the dots.

Main duties and responsibilities

Marketing Activation

  • Coordinate local implementation of global campaigns, thought leadership, client and sector initiatives, ensuring relevance and visibility in the local market
  • Support the activation of agreed business development and  marketing priorities through campaigns, events, communications and marketing initiatives
  • Coordinate marketing channels and materials, including social media content, newsletters, website updates, event collateral and office marketing materials
  • Support client-facing events, sponsorships, partnerships and local campaigns, ensuring effective promotion, stakeholder coordination and follow-up
  • Ensure marketing activity is aligned with the firm's brand, messaging and strategic objectives
  • Monitor and support the visibility and promotion of key client, sector and office initiatives across relevant marketing channels

Events, seminars and sponsorship activation

  • Organise and coordinate client events, seminars, sponsorship activations and selected internal events
  • Manage event planning from concept to delivery, including timelines, invitations, logistics, suppliers and follow-up
  • Work with partners and fee earners to ensure events have a clear purpose, audience and follow-up plan
  • Coordinate event promotion through the right internal and external channels
  • Track event activity and help assess value, relevance and future improvements

Internal communications and office marketing

  • Coordinate internal communications, office updates and partner-facing MBD messages
  • Ensure MBD activity is visible and clearly communicated within the local office
  • Support internal campaigns, office initiatives and leadership communications where relevant
  • Maintain a consistent tone, quality and rhythm across internal communication channels
  • Help improve internal awareness of client, sector, event and marketing activity

NL/BE collaboration and shared delivery

  • Work as part of the integrated NL/BE MBD team and support selected shared priorities where efficient
  • Help create a more consistent approach to events, internal communications and marketing activation across both countries
  • Use international, GSC and shared service support effectively to avoid duplication and improve delivery
  • Share templates, planning tools and best practices across the NL/BE team
  • Provide practical marketing and event support to colleagues where capacity gaps arise

This role does not own pitches, legal directory submissions, credentials, client plans or sector business development activities.

The job holder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time, provided these are aligned with the core purpose of the role.

About you

The successful candidate will be expected to have:

  • Approximately 3–5 years of experience in marketing, events, communications or business development, preferably in a law firm, professional services or B2B environment
  • Strong experience in organising events, seminars, sponsorship activations or similar client-facing initiatives
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, suppliers, stakeholders and follow-up
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Dutch or French, depending on location; additional Dutch/French language skills are an advantage
  • Good understanding of internal communications, social media, newsletters, website content and local marketing channels
  • Ability to work confidently with partners, fee earners, business services teams and international colleagues
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to understand how marketing and events support client engagement, sector visibility and business development
  • A practical, hands-on and structured working style
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced international environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a professional approach to quality, tone and brand alignment
  • Good knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Excel; experience with event tools, CRM or digital marketing platforms is an advantage

Attributes

The successful candidate should be:

  • Proactive, practical and hands-on
  • Strong in planning, organisation and follow-through
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Collaborative and able to work across locations, teams and functions
  • Positive, flexible and solutions-oriented
  • Professional in approach and strong on internal client care
  • Discreet and capable of handling confidential information appropriately

Strategic Context

This role is part of a leaner and more integrated NL/BE MBD model, where event-only capacity is being replaced by broader marketing activation capability. This allows the team to support both local office needs and selected cross-border priorities more efficiently, while keeping the structure focused, flexible and aligned with the firm’s wider strategy.
