We are looking for an experienced Senior Lead Lawyer (+8 years' experience) to join our growing Tax practice in Brussels.
You will advise Belgian and international clients on a broad range of complex tax matters, with a particular focus on direct taxation, international tax, cross-border structuring, corporate reorganisations and M&A tax. Working within an international and multidisciplinary environment, you will support multinational groups, private equity investors, investment funds and other leading businesses on some of their most strategic tax matters.
As a Senior Lead Lawyer, you will take a leading role in managing complex client matters, delivering pragmatic and commercially focused advice, and supporting the development of junior lawyers. We are looking for a technically strong and entrepreneurial professional who is eager to build trusted client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of our Tax practice.

Main duties and responsibilities
As a Senior Lead Lawyer within the Tax team in our Brussels office, you will advise clients on a broad range of domestic and international tax matters and play a leading role in complex cross-border projects and transactions.
Your role will involve:
- Advising Belgian and international clients on direct tax matters, including corporate income tax and international tax issues
- Structuring and implementing domestic and cross-border reorganisations, restructurings and other strategic business transformations
- Advising on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and private equity transactions
- Assisting clients with international tax planning, group structuring and profit repatriation strategies
- Conducting and overseeing tax due diligence exercises, identifying risks and opportunities in transactional contexts
- Advising on transfer pricing and other tax aspects of multinational business operations, in collaboration with specialized transfer pricing teams
- Managing complex, multi-jurisdictional projects in collaboration with colleagues across DLA Piper's international network
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through practical, commercially focused advice
- Working closely with colleagues across practices to deliver integrated solutions to clients
- Supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers within the team
About you
Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they have/are:
- Qualified to practise as a lawyer in Belgium
- +8 years of relevant experience in tax law
- Strong expertise in direct taxation, in particular corporate income tax
- Significant experience advising on international tax, cross-border structuring and corporate reorganisations
- Experience in M&A tax, transactional tax and private equity-related matters
- Familiarity with transfer pricing concepts and related international tax considerations is considered an asset
- Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills
- A pragmatic, solution-oriented approach with strong commercial awareness
- The ability to manage complex matters with a high degree of autonomy
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and international teams
- Experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior lawyers
- A proactive and entrepreneurial approach, with an interest in contributing to business development initiatives
- Fluent in English, with a good working knowledge of Dutch and/or French
