We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join our Intellectual Property team in Melbourne. As a key part of our team, you will work with leading Partners who will assist you to develop and hone your skills and experience as a top class lawyer.

You will have the widest platform to progress your career and work across multijurisdictional cases for Australian and International clients. Our team act in major intellectual property disputes in a broad range of sectors, including material sciences, engineering, information technology and life sciences. We also provide intellectual property advise and assist clients with registering their intellectual property rights both in Australia and overseas.

Our lawyers litigate business-critical disputes, manage global portfolios, and handle complex transactions. We deliver success for many of the world’s most recognised brands.

Our clients benefit from a valuable combination of global insight and local knowledge that allows us to handle all aspects of complex domestic and cross-border matters. Understanding the industry and the day-to-day issues faced by our clients is critical to our success.

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 6 - 8 + years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role. Characteristics suited to the role include:

  • Be a qualified lawyer, ideally qualified in Australia or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Have previous experience in an IP role
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working
  • Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
  • Proactive and innovative
