The role

The Privacy Manager will be instrumental in helping us develop, implement and achieve our global privacy and compliance objectives. Ideally you will have a proven track record in advising, managing and delivering solutions across a global network in relation to privacy compliance and risk matters. More specifically, detailed knowledge of Data Protection Act (DPA), the General Data Protection Regulation and other data protection laws around the world. Knowledge of the SRA rules would also be an advantage.
You will be up to the challenge, have a passion for privacy and thrive in working with complex and at times demanding matters. This will suit a commercially minded data protection expert with a passion in delivering exceptional service across all levels. The successful candidate must possess developed team working and communication skills and be a self-starter. A pro-active and flexible approach to help drive the team forward is essential.
  • Assist the firm to meet its regulatory and strategic objectives. Provide legal advice on data protection and privacy matters to ensure compliance with privacy laws in the jurisdictions the firm operate
  • Create, implement and maintain registers and documentation regarding the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal data in the organisation and to authorised third parties.
  • Work in partnership with General Counsel, Procurement, Human Resources, Senior Management, Marketing, Information Security and Data Privacy Lawyers in order to ensure Firm-wide data protection compliance
  • Implement and maintain an audit process to ensure that the current policies and procedures are being upheld throughout the Firm
  • Conduct and lead Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)
  • Manage all record keeping related to data protection requirements and data subject requests
  • Escalate issues to the Firm’s data protection lawyers for detailed advice when necessary
  • Create, organise and deliver privacy law trainings tailored to the various levels of the Firm
  • Manage data incidents and data breaches in coordination with the firm’s General Counsel Information Security teams and external advisers
  • Communicate with and submit reports to the national Data Protection Authorities.
  • Review, negotiate, advise and draft data protection agreements
  • Provide management reporting as required on data protection: Data Inventory, Subject Access Requests, data destruction, data portability, breaches, monitoring, regulatory developments and training
  • Being involved in projects either as a part of a team or individually to manage privacy and other information risks across the business
  • Proven experience of working at a senior level within a risk and compliance environment
  • Previous experience within professional services will be an advantage
  • Developed team work, project management and client care abilities
  • Highly organised, with proven ability to plan and manage a busy and varied workload
  • Experience of dealing with multiple requests and coordination across the business
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Be comfortable operating in sometimes ambiguous situations, demonstrating a flexible and collaborative personal working style
  • Be comfortable multi-tasking and working to sometimes conflicting timescales and multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment
