The role


Join our Middle East Marketing & BD Hub as Marketing & Business Development Executive. The hub provides support across a range of marketing and business development activities for the office locations throughout the Middle East, which includes UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and KSA.

As an Executive with a particular focus on pitching your primary responsibilities will be the preparation and delivery of pitches throughout the region.

This role will at times provide you with the opportunity to get involved in the wider range of marketing activities.

Occasional travel within the Middle East may be required.


Business Development: support Partners and lawyers in producing market leading pitches and proposals. Work closely with senior marketing colleagues to ensure best practice is adopted.

  • Evaluating pitch opportunities using the firm’s tools
  • Developing the pitch strategy including win themes and value proposition
  • Scoping the pitch opportunity to understand client needs and to ensure our proposal is responsive
  • Involving subject matter experts, for example the pricing team, to develop our proposition
  • Developing pitch content that is compelling and focused on the client
  • Coordinating input from contributors to ensure their input is tailored, relevant and received with sufficient time to edit and refine
  • Finalising pitches in line with the client’s instructions
  • Coordinate presentation rehearsals and offer advice and coaching on style, approach, messaging
  • Updating Middle East specific pitch content on the firm’s content management systems.
  • Champion the pitch process within the Middle East
  • Conducting client debriefs to capture feedback
  • Assist on complex pitches
  • Take responsibility for additional projects which support the pitch team’s priorities
  • Work with partners and lawyers to co-ordinate directory and award submissions

Systems and Process: gain a solid understanding of the firms approach to pitching and be confident to deliver drafts to Partners. Be an advocate for the firms approach to the Bid /No Bid process and be capable of running this process. Ensure that the outcome of pitches are captured and logged on the system.

Marketing: occasional support to regional marketing initiatives such as the delivery of profile-raising activities including Events, Legal Directory and Legal Award submissions, Sponsorships, Website & Digital content, Client Communications, Marketing Collateral.  Ensure that all marketing activities support delivery of the firm’s strategic objectives and that all materials produced reflect DLA Piper’s brand and adhere to the brand guidelines.


  • Strong commercial awareness in both approach and delivery
  • Good project management skills in relation to delivering pitches and proposals
  • Able to provide a high quality service whilst operating remotely from the end user
  • Confident operating on their own initiative, owning projects and seeing them through to conclusion with limited supervision
  • Excellent communication skills along with proven experience of working in a virtual team environment
  • Sound understanding of professional marketing approaches, new business issues, sales and pitch processes within the legal
  • Professional approach in terms of commitment and internal client care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy
  • Experience in dealing with a demanding workload and conflicting priorities
  • Able to multi-task and work to deadlines, be methodical and logical, as well as thrive in a robust and fast-paced environment
  • Have the ability to see delegated tasks through to completion at a high standard
  • Have the ability to stay calm and composed in often demanding situations
  • display a consistently positive attitude and adopt a ‘can do’ approach as well as being able to work well on own initiative and also as part of a wider team; collaborative working style
  • Be IT literate – experience of Excel, Word 2010 and Outlook is essential; experience of using InterAction/CRM systems would be beneficial
  • Hold a Degree/CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing (desirable)
  • Can understand and identify with the firm and its objectives and values
