THE OPPORTUNITY

We are offering 6 month Internships across the following Practice Groups: 

  • Corporate
  • Finance, Projects & Restructuring (Finance/Banking/Regulatory)
  • Investment Funds
  • Intellectual Property & Technology
  • Litigation & Regulatory
  • Tax 

You will have the opportunity to interact with other DLA Piper offices and experience our “One Team, No Borders” way of working, to improve and test your technical legal skills internationally. We strive to give the opportunity to our interns to feel and understand the Lawyers’ world to be prepared for their professional challenges of tomorrow.  

This internship role is for a fixed term. It is not a Bar traineeship role.

MAIN DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Intellectual Property and Technology 

DLA Piper is one of the most widely recognized providers of a full range of commercial, intellectual property law, privacy, sourcing and technology law services for leading businesses worldwide. Intellectual property and technology law is at the core of any major business transaction or strategic dispute and has become one of the most critical legal areas as companies continue to expand and protect their technologies, brands, products, data and services around the globe.

Our team works on high profile and complex mandates for both major users and suppliers of  technology related services, as well as more general commercial work and large scale data protection and privacy matters. Clients range from larger retail and investment banks, airlines, retail groups, telcos, FTSE 100 companies and IT/outsourcing service providers. 

The workload is varied and includes contentious and non-contentious advice on intellectual property, data protection (including GDPR implementation), large scale outsourcing projects, cloud and digital transformation and services contracts.

The successful Intern would ideally be involved in a broad spread of work, including major outsourcing projects, cloud services arrangements, commercial projects, data privacy and security advice and projects, and various IT, telco and technology related matters.

Duties include also:

  • Research on legal and commercial issues;
  • Drafting and reviewing contractual documentation and legal memoranda on broad area of IPT topics;
  • Assisting with IP prosecution, licencing and disputes/infringement cases.

ABOUT YOU

  • A strong academic record;
  • Fluency in both English and French
  • A good command of German or any other language would be advantageous;
  • Stays current on key legal and business developments;
  • Commercially astute and stay current on key legal and business news.
