The Africa Knowledge team is responsible for supporting the firm’s Africa strategy with reference to quality and knowledge.  This is done through a range of expanding projects and training activities for lawyers, business services staff members as well as clients.  

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Knowledge Co-ordinator to join our team. At a high level, the Knowledge Co-ordinator will be responsible for supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of a knowledge and learning plan for DLA Piper Arica.  This role requires strong coordination, communication, and analytical skills.

The addition of a Knowledge Co-ordinator to the team will enable the existing team members to focus more on specific projects allowing for overall better service delivery and a more comprehensive service offering.

The Africa Knowledge team is responsible for all knowledge related projects/initiatives as well as learning and development for DLA Piper Africa (more than 400 fee earners).  Due to growth this role will be a key support to the Director of Knowledge and Knowledge Administrator.

The ideal candidate will have experience working effectively with people at all levels and will flourish within our fast-moving environment where he/she will have the opportunity to grow personally and professionally in a truly  global professional services firm. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

You will enjoy a broad variety of work including, but not limited to, supporting: 

Learning and development (L&D)

  • Attend to general administration for internal and external training events
  • Coordinate training
  • Send out invitations, secure venues etc
  • Liaise with service providers
  • Liaise with presenters 
  • Liaise with invitees
  • Amend presentations as/when required 
  • Liaise with Document Production function to finalize training material
  • Download attendance registers, training recordings etc
  • Maintain repository of recordings and training material
  • Maintain training calendar
  • Collate reviews and evaluations
  • Update spreadsheets and training records
  • Administrative support for Continuing Competence/Continuous Professional Development processes

Knowledge and know-how

  • Attend to general administration in relation to knowledge projects
  • Assist in coordinating country submissions for international publications and guides
  • Assist in keeping user lists for databases/subscriptions up to date

Virtual data rooms (vRooms)

  • Update content as and when required 
  • Liaise with relevant teams in uploading videos/recordings
  • User management – add new joiners and remove leavers
  • Address user queries

Global mobility: Secondments

  • Attend to general administration for secondment programmes 

Committees

  • Attend to general administration
  • Assist with convening committees ie Africa Knowledge community; Quality and Knowledge committee
  • Circulate agendas
  • Take minutes
  • Record attendance
  • Follow up on agreed actions

Quality

  • Attend to general administration in relation to quality projects
  • Assist with quality project/initiatives

General

  • Support the Director, Knowledge and Knowledge Administrator in all aspects of their roles to ensure the smooth running of the Knowledge function 
  • Add value to Knowledge and L&D functions
  • Undertake such other tasks as may be requested or delegated from time to time
  • Be a champion and ambassador for Africa
  • Engage and build relationships with the Africa member firms  

ABOUT YOU 

  • Appropriate/relevant tertiary qualification (i.e. information management, business administration, law etc)
  • Previous administration experience essential
  • Previous L&D or Knowledge Management experience desirable
  • Professional services experience preferable
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain strong internal working relationships
  • Self-starter with exceptional organisational skills
  • Project management skills
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel & PowerPoint etc)
  • Confident, professional and personable, able to engage at all levels
  • Focus on service delivery and efficiency
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
