The role

We are looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to design and build high quality reports, models and dashboards in PBI including defining and creating data sets/flows. In addition, the role will be responsible for maintaining live dashboards for our internal and extermal customers. As an experience Power BI developer, you will be required to support and collaborate with other developers in the teams and offer advice as and when needed to Citizen Developers. With a junior developer also being recruited to the team, experienced developers will need support this role to grow and advise as they progress. 

In addition to the above, it would be an advantage if the successful candidate was confident in SharePoint lists and/or Power Automate and/or Power Apps. Whilst these are not requirements, it is an advantage. 

This role will be joining a growing team of skilled Power BI developers at an exciting time in our journey and will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall strategy of this area.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build and deploy Microsoft Power BI semantic models, reports, dashboards and apps across all workstreams of the business
  • Build quality semantic data models aligned with best practice and industry standard for optimal model and report performance.
  • Determine and ensure correct data sets and flows for existing, and new projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain of usage, data refreshes, security access.
  • ⁠Attend technical and business meeting, convert business requirements into technical specifications and decide the timeline to accomplish tasks.
  • ⁠Working with end users to manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes and fixing any defects identified. 
  • Support an enterprise product data warehouse and reporting environment, to deliver accurate and insightful business intelligence that advises the business to make strategic and tactical decisions and provides individuals with the information they need to perform their roles more effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with other Developers both Power BI and other technologies to deliver services.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support Citizen Developers of Power BI as required and build relationships with colleagues from across the Firm
  • Acquire expertise rapidly in own and other related fields and ability to self-learn
  • Contributing to overall strategy of the data and visualization reports and direction of the Firm in this area

ABOUT YOU

  • At least 2 years experience of Power BI
  • Proficient in DAX/M language
  • A sense of aesthetics and the ability to create reports attractive in terms of visual and functional aspects
  • Experience of database systems such as SQL Server, Azure SQL and Fabric
  • Experience of designing multi dimensional data models
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • A good communicator and team player 
  • Confident, motivated, proactive, focused on business objectives 
  • Good people skills – able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
  • Desirable: Experience in SQL
  • Desirable: Good knowledge of SharePoint
  • Desirable: Tabular Editor, DAX Studio
  • Desirable: Experience with any of the other power platform components eg. Power Automation

The MI/Power BI Developer will join our emerging Data and AI function. This is an exciting new role that will be supporting the roll-out of Intelligent Reporting and the development of Power BI dashboards throughout our International group. The successful candidate will sit alongside a mature team that provide process improvement, automation and project support to our practice groups and business services areas.
