We are currently recruiting for a Senior Associate to join DLA Piper’s global Litigation and Regulatory team to be based in Melbourne.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of our market leading global team, candidates will enjoy a top tier range of work as well as taking day to day responsibility for the full range of competition and regulatory matters including:

  • Advising our clients on a wide range domestic and cross border competition and regulatory matters ranging from merger clearance to access issues 
  • Manage competition and regulatory matters that go to litigation before the Courts, Australian Competition Tribunal and State based economic regulators
  • Representing clients before the regulators in antitrust investigations, appeals, market studies and merger control reviews
  • Working closely with the global DLA Piper teams and as a trusted business partner for clients
  • Taking a proactive approach to business development opportunities

ABOUT YOU
We do not set upper or lower limits of post admission experience for any of our vacancies. We have, however, given an indicative as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have upwards of 4 years’ post admission experience are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role. 
The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified Solicitor, ideally qualified in Australia or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Have experience advising clients domestic and cross border transactions 
  • Have experience advising on competition, consumer law and regulatory matters
  • Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the technical and sectoral issues relevant to our clients
  • Draft documents using a commercial, client-focussed style
  • Have excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working
  • Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
  • Builds and develops own network of internal and external contacts
  • Awareness of business development initiatives in the department and identifies ways to contribute
  • Proactive and innovative
