The role

The DLA Piper partner tax team are responsible for the management of the tax affairs of the firm’s partners. This includes tax return completion, tax reserving, ad hoc personal tax advice, tax equalisation, taxable profit calculations amongst many other projects that run throughout the year. As an International Law firm the tax considerations are varied and interesting with plenty of score to build up knowledge in partnership tax.

Due to a change in the HMRC reporting rules the team are seeking to recruit someone to help tackle the increased workload and enhance the quality of the service offered to the partners. The successful candidate will be working alongside a well established and experienced team.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The role will evolve over time but key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of partner tax returns;
  • Preparation of overpayment relief claims;
  • Tax reserve reconciliations;
  • Partner tax reserve interest calculations;
  • Taxable profit modelling calculations.

The position is likely to be more data focussed in these areas to begin whilst tax knowledge is developed. 

ABOUT YOU

This would be an ideal role for someone with proficient excel skills that have recently completed their A-Levels or left university.

Other experience levels will be considered, the key is a can do attitude and a desire to learn quickly.

  • A solid academic background, with a minimum of A-Levels grade C or above;
  • Can demonstrate the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment through previous work experience.
  • Can use Excel comfortably, with the capacity to use functions, features and formulas to organise and analyse data.
