The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a placement year within our Finance Team. We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our team based in Sheffield.

A placement at DLA Piper gives students the opportunity to work in a variety of roles within the finance team based in Sheffield city centre which supports DLA Piper’s operations and local finance teams in more than 40 different countries across UK, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and Middle East.

The Finance team at DLA Piper has offered placement opportunities for almost 15 years – and we continue to value the experience and responsibilities we provide to each placement student. Our placement students are very much part of our team, with their own responsibilities to deliver and support the business.

We are a large finance team performing a wide range of finance activities; therefore, we have always found our placement students adapt their experience to the opportunities that arise, and really get significant benefit from their time at DLA Piper.When you join DLA Piper as a Finance Placement Student you will embark on a placement year that gives you exposure to a wide variety of experiences and the opportunity to support a number of the finance teams including;

  • UK Commercial Finance Team
  • International Operations and Commercial Finance Team
  • Group Treasury
  • Group Accounting

ABOUT YOU
Requirements of the role:

  • Two years of degree level study completed
  • Predicted grade of 2:1 or higher
  • A desire to work in Finance
  • Accounting and Finance or Accounting degree types preferred but other degrees considered

Key skills and competencies

  • A good communicator (both verbal and written) with ability to build strong relationships
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Customer service orientated
  • Strong problem solver with intellectual curiosity and a “can-do” attitude
  • Highly analytical and numerate with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve and analyse situations
  • An ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
