The role

The GSC Finance Project Management team plays a key role in the delivery of high-quality finance support services from DLA Piper’s Global Service Centre (GSC) located in Warsaw to our international fee earners, partners, business services professionals and external clients. The team is responsible for managing a portfolio of finance projects and improvement initiatives.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the full project life cycle – from engagement with all relevant business users, planning, managing stages of development, managing the testing cycle and deployment of deliverables
  • Management of the project budget and project reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Ensuring business and project requirements are being met with the highest quality and accuracy through verification and communicating routinely with the business stakeholders
  • Day to day management of dedicated project teams to ensure successful delivery of allocated projects
  • Managing project resource, building capability to enhance individual and team performance
  • Mentoring and coaching others within the project teams
  • Full ownership for managing project delivery

ABOUT YOU
Essential skills and experience:

  • A demonstrable track record in the successful delivery of business change projects involving multiple stakeholders and technology and process change elements. 
  • Application of robust project management and change control principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills tailoring the communications to the audience from project team to steering level. 
  • Proven ability to ensure appropriate communication of project status with key stakeholders throughout the life of the project ensuring that all reports and communications are timely, relevant, accurate and appropriate to the audience, ensuring proactive stakeholder management. 
  • Excellent people and relationship management skills.  
  • Ability to lead cross functional project teams and subject matter experts and to effectively manage and motivate the project team. 
  • Ability to proactively drive the day-to-day planning, progress and monitoring of multiple projects, managing project risks, issues and dependencies and the development of contingency plans.
  • Great team working skills and a passion for delivering results.
  • Able to work independently and adapt to change.
  • Ability to judge and manage priorities effectively and work to tight timescales.
  • Fluent English.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Qualifications or qualified by experience of practical project management methods.
  • Relevant experience in a Finance shared services or BPO environment preferably in services industry.
  • Understanding of transactional finance processes.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP – a strong asset), ticketing/workflow systems (Service Now – strong asset).
  • Strong drive and a consistently positive attitude and a ‘can do’ approach as well as being able to work well on own initiative and also as part of a wider team.
