The role

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Associate to join our Global Tax Team and provide innovation solutions to our client’s tax, legal and business challenges.

Our international platform means our tax lawyers can draw upon the experience of colleagues in numerous jurisdictions and areas of law, including intellectual property and technology, corporate and finance, real estate, employment and employee benefits, regulatory and EU competition.

This is your opportunity to:

  • Advise on interesting UK and international tax technical matters in a commercially astute way;
  • Plan and implement business critical international reorganisations;
  • Co-ordinate deep local know-how and deliver multi-disciplinary, cross-border advice of the highest quality; and
  • Build industry specialisms and become a trusted advisor to our multi-national clients.

Working as part of our highly regarded global team, candidates will enjoy a broad diet of work and advise on matters including (but not limited to):

  • UK domestic and cross-border tax issues (permanent establishments, tax treaty interpretation and the MLI, withholding taxes, CFC rules, anti-hybrids, diverted profit taxes, Plllar 2 and other OECD BEPS tax regimes); and
  • Undertaking tax structuring and implementation of a wide variety of international reorganisations, including post-acquisition integrations, pre-sale reorganisations and spin-offs, legal entity rationalisations, holding company structuring and international business expansions, IP reorganisations, treasury and intercompany financing structures and supply chain transformations.

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 5 – 7 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role. Use bullet points and be succinct.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Be either a solicitor qualified in England & Wales or Scotland, or a solicitor qualified in a Commonwealth jurisdiction with significant UK tax experience.
  • Have gained tax experience working in a national or international firm.
  • Possess strong technical skills, with an international awareness and focus to their work.
  • Be able to demonstrate an excellent academic record and the ability to manage more junior team members.
  • Be able to create and deliver sustainable, high quality client service whilst also considering client’s wider business objectives.
  • Be keen to get involved in business development and help drive the Irish practice forward.
  • Be able to handle multiple priorities, working to sometimes conflicting timescales in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Build trust and rapport to develop effective relationships, internally and externally.
