The role

We know exceptional experiences begin with exceptional people. Individuals coming together, to make business better. At DLA Piper, we make this happen by creating a culture where passion, individuality and excellence is celebrated every day.

A culture that recognizes that no two careers or two people are the same. A culture that you have the opportunity to build and contribute to.

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join our Melbourne team.

As a valued member of our national Human Resources team, you are invited to learn the true meaning of business partnership in your role as the HR Advisor in our Melbourne office. Working alongside a team of experienced HR practitioners, you will provide support for all aspects of the employee lifecycle. From induction, employee engagement, performance management and coaching to offboarding, you will be making an impact and forming relationships across every department at the firm. You will have the opportunity to contribute to and lead exciting projects and initiatives including Learning & Development and Diversity & Inclusion.

To support you in achieving your potential, through work that challenges and stretches you, you will also have access to our focused learning and development offering, and be part of a local and international team that values you.

  • Assist with coordinating the onboarding experience for our new starters across the Melbourne office, to ensure a positive and consistent introduction to the business
  • Providing expert guidance to our people and management around policies and legal entitlements
  • Partnering with our HR Centres of Excellence (L&D, D&I, Remuneration & Reward, Talent Acquisition) to ensure successful implementation of DLA Piper initiatives.
  • Working with the HR Managers to identify areas for improvement and opportunity through engagement surveys, exit interviews and general employee feedback
  • Provide performance management guidance (coaching, career development, disciplinary issues)
  • Work on strategic national and global HR projects

We are looking for someone who is passionate about HR and ready to build their career in a global law firm.

To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on generalist Human Resources experience
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Highly self-motivated and results driven
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Confidence, professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
  • High attention to detail

We strive to be the leading global business law firm by delivering quality, service excellence and value to our clients and offering practical and innovative legal solutions to help them succeed. We welcome the unique contribution that you will bring to our firm and actively encourage applications from all talented people – however your talent is packaged, whatever your background or circumstance and regardless of how you identify.

We recognise that people have responsibilities and interests outside of their career and that as a business, we all benefit from working flexibly. That’s why we are open to discussing with candidates the different ways in which we are able to support requests for agile working arrangements.

In the event that we make an offer to you, and where local legislation permits and where relevant, we will conduct pre-engagement screening checks that may include but are not limited to your professional and academic qualifications, your eligibility to work in the relevant jurisdiction, any criminal records, your financial stability and work-related references.
