We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane Office. Reporting to the Payroll Manager this will support  with fortnightly payroll processing of approximately 500 employees and ongoing maintenance of changes to employment, employee exits, new starters and pay adjustments.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be joining a highly efficient finance team and coming with a background in professional services or legal will be highly advantageous. 

Key areas of responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of employee master data in the payroll system, Affinity 
  • Calculating and processing termination and redundancy payments
  • Interpreting employee timesheets to calculate overtime and penalty rates
  • Annual reconciliations of Award related timesheets
  • Fortnightly payroll processing of approx. 500 employees 
  • Processing of ad-hoc pays
  • Monthly review of payroll costing changes
  • Maintenance of leave accruals and balances
  • Monthly payroll tax lodgments
  • Processing fortnightly PAYG payments to the ATO
  • Monthly superannuation reconciliations and payment
  • EOFY year reconciliations and lodgment of Workcover and Payroll tax
  • Prompt response and resolution of employee queries

ABOUT YOU

  • Ideally have 3+ years’ experience in a similar role within a legal or professional service environment.
  • Pride themselves on accuracy, excellent organizational skills, ability to work to tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure. 
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a virtual team.
  • A proactive team player with a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite of products and experience using Affinity Payroll would be highly advantageous.

THE PRACTICE GROUP
Our Finance Department is currently segregated into different areas. We have distinct teams covering:-

  • Accounts payable, management accounts and payroll;,
  • Trust accounting, billing, cash receipting and reporting, 
  • Credit/collections 

Our Finance Department provides support to all offices in Australia and has regular catch ups to brainstorm ideas and implement projects which are relevant to all areas of the firm. 
The teams work together closely and there are regular opportunities for collaboration which is a great way to learn new skills and gett to know people within the Finance Department.
