IT Operations Engineer – (Connectivity & Collaboration – Network)

The role

We are recruiting an Engineer in the Service Operations team within IT. The IT function is a key part of our business services and operates across International with key hubs in Leeds, Asia and Australia.

As Engineer you will have practical experience in engineering and support in a Service and Operations environment and an understanding of the relevant fields of expertise (e.g. Infrastructure, Applications, Networks, Security etc.)

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong communications skills, both oral and written as well as having knowledge of the business and the technical aspects of the area being supported and the hardware and software environment in which it runs. 

Experience of Information systems concepts and practice as well as working in a fast paced, complex global environment with multiple regulatory requirements is a distinct advantage.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Within a broad area of competence, investigate incidents and problems and other requests for support and determine the appropriate course of action.
• Provide advice and guidance to other colleagues where required
• Progress requests for support and ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed
• Providing technical expertise in the correct application of operational procedures
• Carrying out all tasks and procedures effectively and efficiently to agreed levels of service or specific requirements of Service or Operational level agreements
• Documenting all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate
• Analysing site survey reports and contributing to specifications of requirements and plans for installation and commissioning of hardware and software

ABOUT YOU

• Demonstrable experience in the configuration and management of enterprise networking platforms covering LAN, WAN and Security architectures.
• CCNA or equivalent minimum qualification
• Working knowledge of network management systems incorporating configuration management and backup techniques.
• The ability to troubleshoot switching and routing issues using diagnostic toolsets techniques.
• Working knowledge of internetworking protocols (switching, routing, DNS/DHCP)
• Appreciation of SD WAN technologies
• Understanding of Firewalls & Security technologies
• Appreciation of VoIP and wireless technologies
• Strong communicator with the ability to engage and manage stakeholders from a variety of different backgrounds and disciplines
• Ability to work cross-functionally , understanding the needs, objectives and constraints of those in other disciplines and functions
• Appreciation of ITIL framework and ITSM toolsets used in the incident management process
