The role


This is your opportunity to advise clients on all aspects of contentious restructuring and insolvency. 

You will support a diverse client base that includes debtors, lenders, insolvency officeholders, government entities, trustees, shareholders, senior executives, as well as distressed debt and asset buyers and investors. Our global platform provides the opportunity to lead assignments from the mid-market to the largest national and international restructurings and insolvencies. 


 You will deliver exceptional results to clients on a broad range of complex issues including:

  • Insolvency and bankruptcy-related investigations including use of officeholder powers
  • Insolvency litigation including applications within proceedings and litigation claims both locally and globally
  • Working with multiple jurisdictions to apply for recognition of insolvency
  • Court driven insolvency processes including petitioning
  • Insolvency procedures and office holders' conduct and regulation
  • Protection against key customer and supplier insolvency


We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies.  We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have between 2 1 and 4 years' PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role. 

  • Solicitor or barrister, ideally qualified in England & Wales or a Commonwealth jurisdiction
  • Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news 
  • Excellent skills in communication, client relations, team-working and collaboration 
  • The drive to take responsibility for the day to day conduct of insolvency investigations and litigation
  • Excellent knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules
  • We will consider litigators coming from a general commercial litigation background with more limited insolvency experience
  • An interest in international legal systems and working on global mandates
  • Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
  • Understands positive client support 
  • Creates confidence in the team and the firm
  • Recognises and seizes opportunities for the firm, including repeat business
  • Builds and develops own network of internal and external contacts
  • Awareness of business development initiatives in the department and identifies ways to contribute
  • Maintains a controlled, objective and flexible approach under pressure
  • Proactive and innovative
