We are currently looking for an experienced IT Project Manager to join our team in Perth. The role is responsible for the effective management of one or more projects within a change programme as allocated and approved by the business. The project manager leads definition and assures continued viability of projects that meet the changing needs of the business, against the metrics of time, quality and cost. This position will be broadly skilled in information and communications technology and come with a comprehensive knowledge of relevant systems development lifecycles. This position will possess excellent people skills, ability to bring people on the project journey and foster an excellent team environment across both the project team and wider stakeholders.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

You will be joining a technology efficient team and the Project Manager will take full responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation and satisfactory completion of medium-scale projects (typically with direct business impact and firm deadlines). Identifying, assessing and managing risks to the success of the project. Ensures that realistic project plans are maintained and ensures regular and accurate communication to stakeholders. Adopts appropriate project management methods and tools whether predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. Ensures Quality reviews occur on schedule and according to procedure. Manages the change control procedure, and ensures that project deliverables are completed within agreed cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Provides effective leadership to the project team, and takes appropriate action where team performance deviates from agreed tolerances.

  • Monitors outcomes in terms of benefits against what was predicted in the business case, and ensures that all participants are informed and involved throughout the change programme and fully prepared to exploit the new operational business environment once it is in place
  • Acts as a role model for individuals and team members, setting a standard, acting professionally at all times and working to a professional code of conduct and ethics.
  • Effectively estimates costs, timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to agreed terms of reference.
  • Manages the change control procedure and ensures that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets, and are signed off. Gains agreement for revisions to the project(s) from project sponsors and other stakeholders (e.g. design authority, project board, change authority) as appropriate.
  • Provides effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience. Takes appropriate action where performance deviates from agreed tolerances. Actively represents the project team, ensuring that effective relationships are built and maintained with the business.
  • Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured, actioned and reported to the appropriate organisational entities for dissemination towards organisational learning and improvement. Produces appropriate documentation to support these processes.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations/decisions on technical options as appropriate.
  • Takes responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful completion of complex projects, directing and counselling project team members, and advising clients/users as necessary on all phases.
  • Engages with customers and stakeholders in accordance with stakeholder engagement and communication plans.
  • Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder management, and highlights issues which need to be addressed.
  • Works with customers and stakeholders, seeking to develop and enhance relationships
  • Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.
  • Monitors project scope, costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances. Ensures that delivered systems are implemented within these criteria.
  • Ensures that realistic project, quality, and risk plans are prepared and maintained for projects and sub-projects. Maintains effective financial and project progress forecasting, and reports as appropriate.
  • Evaluates project performance. Drives decision making, ensuring decisions are timely and recorded to ensure progress and accountability.
  • Adheres to the organisation's delivery framework and corporate governance.
