The role

The DLA Piper team operates globally across more than 40 counties, but we are still locally connected. That's because trusting and collaborative relationships with our clients and each other are at the heart of our success. Our platform is structured and founded on a philosophy which seeks to provide our lawyers with the ability to realise their personal and professional objectives in a culture where they are empowered to make a meaningful impact.

For the last 12 consecutive years, DLA Piper has been ranked as the No. 1 legal advisor in the world for M&A deal volume in Mergermarket's league tables. We were also named Australian Energy Law Firm of the Year (Best Lawyers in Australia 2021) and regularly top the international league tables for renewable energy transactions.

Our cross-sector teams work together frequently on renewable and energy project deals. We understand what joined up looks like and how to deliver it.

Our clients benefit from a valuable combination of global insight and local knowledge that allows us to advise on all aspects of their investments, acquisitions, divestments and project development initiatives and truly assist them to realise their commercial objectives.

We are currently looking for a high performing Senior Associate to join our team in Melbourne with experience or a keen interest in the renewable energy and broader energy and substantiality sectors.

Your role will involve working closely with the Corporate and Projects team on a broad range of M&A, investment, joint venturing and project development transactions, advising a broad range of active local and international clients across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

You will play a key lead role on a variety of market leading transactions and projects with a team that regularly advise some of world’s largest asset managers, funds and other investors on their investments into the Australian energy sector.

You will be a corporate and transactional lawyer who is currently a Senior Associate with no less than 4 years M&A experience. You will not necessarily need to be currently focused on the renewable energy or broader energy or sustainability sectors, but you will need to be passionate about these sectors and share our enthusiasm for the opportunity they present and the work that needs to be achieved to deliver a net zero future.

We know talent is more than what's written on paper. It's the energy you bring and the way you work with your team.

You will receive first class on the job support and training from our Senior Partners in our Melbourne office, particularly Chris Mitchell. You will also have access to our DLA Piper Career Academies, an award-winning international development forum designed to cultivate high performance and support your career goals.

If you're a high performing corporate lawyer who has a special interest in renewable energy and ready to take the next step in your career, we want to hear from you.

Be part of a team that thrives on complex challenges, works on cutting-edge transactions, is delivering exceptional results and is mentored by Partners who are recognised by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 as leading lawyers. We're trusted advisors, innovators and game changers and now, we're asking you to join us and be part of our success.
