THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking for high performing Senior Associate with strong experience in Public M&A and/or Equity Capital Markets to join our team in either Sydney or Brisbane. 

By joining our Australian Corporate Team, you will have the widest platform to progress your career across core areas of corporate law from mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and venture capital to private and public equity. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is your chance to join a global team advising clients at all stages of their transactions. 

We are perfectly positioned to support leading enterprises, the brightest start-up companies and financial institutions in their development, growth and strategic and other investment activities. From mergers and acquisitions and venture capital, to equity capital markets, we support clients through all stages of their lifecycle to execute transformational transactions to ensure successful deal outcomes.  

You will deliver exceptional results to clients on a broad range of complex issues including:

  • Cross-border M&A (public and private), including:
  1. inception, planning and due diligence
  2. odeal execution
  3. post-merger integrations
  4. joint ventures 
  5. growth by alternatives to M&A 
  • Equity Capital Markets  
  • Private Equity
  • Strategic Commercial Contracts 
  • Corporate Governance. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities could include:

  • Drafting transactional documents 
  • Formulating and workshopping creative deal structuring solutions 
  • Playing an active role in negotiations 
  • Building client relationships during every step of a transaction
  • Mentoring associates, paralegals and taking an active role in the team

ABOUT YOU

We do not set upper or lower limits of PQE for any of our vacancies. We have however given an indicative PQE as an approximate guide for applicants. Candidates who have upwards of 5 years’ legal experience are likely to have the right level of knowledge and have gained the right level of experience needed to be able to undertake this role. 

  • Experience across public M&A transactions and / or Equity Capital Markets across a range of sectors 
  • The ability to run a matter independently and progress matters efficiently
  • Understanding of the industry and the day-to-day issues faced by our clients
  • Experience working across jurisdictions and/or with emerging markets
  • Proven track record of leading deals and negotiations 
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news 
  • Excellent skills in communication, client relations, and team-working 
  • Provides a professional, quality service in a timely manner, and responds effectively to requests from internal and external clients
  • Recognises and seizes opportunities for the firm, including repeat business
  • Builds and develops own network of internal and external contacts
  • Awareness of business development initiatives in the department and identifies ways to contribute
  • Maintains a controlled, objective and flexible approach under pressure
  • Proactive and innovative.
