Competition terms
These are the terms and conditions for the DLA Piper: Unlocking the Law prize promotion. For any questions please contact our Early Careers team by email at earlycareers@dlapiper.com (please use “DLA Piper: Unlocking the Law” in any correspondence).
1. The Promoters
a. The promoters are DLA Piper UK LLP of 160 Aldersgate Street, London, EC1A 4HT ("DLA Piper").
2. The competition
a. Students will enter the competition by three immersive challenges on our Early Careers site, and be in with a chance to win prizes.
b. We will only accept one entry per email address.
c. Prizes are available to be won by entrants during the Competition Period (as defined below).
3. How to enter
a. The competition will run from 12:00 GMT on 30th January 2026 (the "Opening Date") to 16:00 GMT on 27th February 2026 (the "Closing Date") inclusive (the “Competition Period”).
b. All competition entries must be received by means of this website no later than 15:59 GMT on the Closing Date. All competition entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.
c. To enter the competition, you must complete all 3 challenges and submit the online entry form provided on this website by the Closing Date.
d. No purchase is necessary and there is no charge to register for use of the website.
e. DLA Piper will not accept:
i. responsibility for competition entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or
ii. proof of posting or transmission as proof of receipt of entry to the competition.
f. By submitting a competition entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions.
4. Eligibility
a. The competition is only open to all residents in the UK (excluding Northern Ireland) aged 18 years or older at the date of entry who are in current full-time study during the 2025/2026 academic year at a UK higher education institution recognised by the government as a degree-awarding body and listed here. We may ask you to provide proof of your education status in the form of your student ID before we grant you a prize.
b. The following are not eligible to enter:
i. any person who does not meet the eligibility criteria above;
ii. employees of DLA Piper their holding or subsidiary companies;
iii. employees of agents or suppliers of DLA Piper or their holding or subsidiary or sister companies, who are professionally connected with the competition or its administration; or
iv. members of the immediate families or households of (ii) and (iii) above.
c. In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. DLA Piper may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.
d. DLA Piper will not accept competition entries that are:
i. automatically generated by computer;
ii. completed by third parties or in bulk; or
iii. incomplete.
e. There is a limit of one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
f. DLA Piper reserves all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the prize competition.
g. Competition entries cannot be returned. If you would like to save your entry, please print a copy before submitting it.
5. The prize
a. The prizes are as outlined below:
i. Tech Bundle (BOSE Headphones and Tech Voucher)
ii. BOSE Headphones
iii. Tech Voucher
b. Prizes are subject to availability. DLA Piper reserves the right to substitute the prize with a prize of equal or greater value.
c. The prize is not negotiable or transferable.
6. Winners
a. The decision of DLA Piper or the judges nominated by DLA Piper is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
b. We’ll contact winners using the email address provided with the competition entry, as soon as practicable, and winners will have 48 hours to get back to us to confirm acknowledgment of their win, otherwise your claim will become invalid and we’ll approach another winner. In order to claim the prize, you must reply to the email sent.
c. The prize may not be claimed by a third party on your behalf.
d. DLA Piper does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
7. Limitation of liability
a. Insofar as is permitted by law neither DLA Piper nor their agents and/or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of DLA Piper, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
8. Ownership of competition entries and intellectual property rights
a. All competition entries and any accompanying material submitted to DLA Piper will become the property of DLA Piper on receipt and will not be returned.
b. By submitting your competition entry and any accompanying material, you agree to:
i. assign to DLA Piper all your intellectual property rights in it; and
ii. waive all moral rights to it.
9. Data protection and publicity
a. DLA Piper will process the personal information which you provide as part of your entry as described in DLA Piper’s Privacy Policy.
10. General
a. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, DLA Piper may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from participating in the competition.
b. DLA Piper reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
c. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
