What have you learned from your experiences at DLA Piper?

Working at DLA Piper has taught me how important collaboration is in the legal world. Every project feels like a team effort, with everyone bringing their strengths to the table. I’ve also learned the value of attention to detail, especially when dealing with complex legal documents or regulatory processes.

Beyond the technical skills, I’ve developed confidence in communicating professionally, whether it’s with colleagues, clients, or regulatory bodies. Above all, I’ve learned that asking questions is a valuable part of the learning process as it’s how you gain deeper understanding and improve in your work.

What do you think makes DLA Piper different to other law firms?

DLA Piper stands out because of its global reach and inclusive culture. Even though it’s such a large firm, it genuinely feels like a close-knit community. Everyone here is supportive and invested in your success. There’s a strong focus on mentorship and learning, and you’re given the opportunity to work on meaningful projects from the start. The firm is also forward-thinking, whether it’s embracing legal technology or addressing important issues like sustainability. It’s exciting to be part of a firm that’s shaping the future of law.

Do you have any advice for students aspiring to pursue a career in law?

Focus on building a strong foundation and developing practical skills early on. Pay attention to detail, stay organised, and take the time to understand the bigger picture behind the work you do. Always stay curious and proactive whether it’s keeping up with legal developments or seeking opportunities to learn outside the classroom. Networking is key, as it allows you to connect with professionals who can share insights and advice.

Most importantly, approach your career with confidence and a willingness to grow, because law is as much about adapting and innovating as it is about knowing the rules.
