Understanding mitigating circumstances
Mitigating circumstances are events or situations outside your control that may have affected your academic performance or educational journey. Examples may include illness, bereavement, caring responsibilities, disruption to studies or other significant personal circumstances.
Reasonable adjustments are changes or support measures designed to ensure candidates can participate fairly in the recruitment process. Adjustments vary depending on individual circumstances and the stage of the recruitment process.
Support is considered on an individual basis and may include adjustments such as additional time, alternative assessment formats, accessibility support or other accommodations. The Early Careers team will work with you to understand your requirements and discuss available options.
