If you’re passionate about setting new standards and unpicking complexity, join our Legal, Risk Management & Compliance team.
We were at the centre of the firm’s implementation of the new European data privacy regulations – GDPR. We rolled out GDPR toolkits in 35 countries and worked with local champions to assess the impact of the new rules on how we manage the data of our people and clients, manage our offices and initiate new projects. Over 170,000 letters were sent to clients. We reviewed 1,500 supplier terms and sent out new terms to over 700 of them. The virtual project team numbered over 120 people.
In your first week of joining the firm we will provide support to help protect your reputation and that of the firm. This includes elearning modules covering topics such as anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, and information security.
We also have a robust and comprehensive range of tools and resources for everyone. These include top tips on hot topics, toolkits and handbooks which are designed to help everyone comply with professional, legal and regulatory obligations and applicable codes of conduct.

“DLA Piper, as a business, is genuinely international. Every day, I get to work closely with colleagues in many of our offices around the world, and have recently returned from a six-month secondment in our London office.
What makes DLA Piper different is that we’re always willing to innovate, which means there’s always something new or interesting to get involved in. Every day is different. One morning I can be reviewing contracts, and in the afternoon I could be working with the marketing team to prepare an internal guidance note, or running an internal training session.”

“I actually trained at DLA Piper and spent three years working in the Litigation & Regulatory practice group after qualifying. So the firm has always felt a bit like home. The culture of the firm is one of entrepreneurship, and this is something all staff are encouraged to embody. This coupled with the truly international nature of the firm makes the Office of the General Counsel a constantly interesting and challenging environment to work in. Each day is different to the last and you build relationships with colleagues across practice groups, offices and across all of business services.”

“I was attracted by the opportunities to work with colleagues internationally and the support for flexible working arrangements. This means I have been able to balance family life and have a successful career at DLA Piper for over ten years.
At DLA Piper, we’re pioneers. We resolve risk and compliance issues across so many jurisdictions with criss-crossing legal and regulatory obligations, and that means managing situations that very few firms have encountered. It’s good to be at a firm where I regularly get ‘thank you’ calls from colleagues that I’ve helped with a particularly complex client issue.”
