How would you describe the culture at DLA Piper? 

The culture at DLA Piper is very friendly and supportive. In the Amsterdam office, colleagues are approachable and happy to help you with questions or challenges. DLA Piper recognizes the importance of work-life balance and well-being of its people, besides working hard, there is also enough room for social events outside of work. These social events play a crucial role for the team spirit and create a great atmosphere within the team and a close bond with all of them. 

Is there anything you would like to highlight about your experiences at DLA Piper?

One of the highlights of my experience at DLA Piper was the opportunity to participate in a two-day training program in London. As a Junior Associate starting out, you will get the chance to meet other new starters from various DLA Piper offices across Europe. It was an incredible opportunity to network, share experiences and develop my soft skills. Meeting colleagues from other offices was particularly valuable, as you often work directly with them on transactions involving multiple countries. This big international network of offices is also a key differentiator for DLA Piper.

Do you have any advice for students aspiring to pursue a career in law?

In my opinion it's crucial to stay true to yourself and your values. During your time as a student, take the time to explore and get to know different law firms to find the one that suits you best. Actively seek out opportunities to orient yourself in the legal field through internships and events. But also, don't be afraid of rejection, it's all part of the journey.
