What pro bono or sustainability-related activities have you been involved in?

One of my roles is coordinating our pro bono practice in the Prague office. All our lawyers and students are supported and encouraged to undertake pro bono work.

In 2024, we were involved in several interesting projects, including Seeds of Bravery – a project supporting Ukraine-based technology startups and bring them closer to the EU, and The Global Nonprofits Guide – a free tool for navigating charity laws around the world. Lawyers & Business magazine recognised our pro bono and ESG activities and awarded us the Law Firm of the Year in the CSR category. We participated in #nePINdej! project, organised lectures for grammar school students "Právníci na gympl," and were a partner of the Patron dětí organisation.

How are you involved with the students who join the Prague office?

I work as a student liaison officer, and I interview candidates for our student positions. When selecting new colleagues, we don't look at what someone looks like, how old they are, or which law school they study at. What's important to us is the candidate's strengths, communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Students are welcome to share their ideas with us, and we discuss students' problems and suggestions during our regular meetings. Students are full members of our team and participate in all activities, including team building events, a regular relay race and a charity beach volleyball tournament.

Do you have any advice for students aspiring to pursue a career in law?

Try to gain practical experience in law during your studies - the best way to do this is to work as a legal assistant/student in a law firm. This will help you in your future decision whether to pursue law after their studies, and you'll also gain an advantage in the labour market.

I think it's best to start working in your third year of study, however we offer opportunities to students from any year of study
