Why did you choose to work at DLA Piper?
I was drawn to the firm's international presence and reputation as one of the world's leading law firms. The firm's ability to handle complex, cross-border matters make it an exciting place to build a career.
Working at DLA Piper has given me exposure to complex, high-profile cases and transactions, helping me develop a strong understanding of the practice group I'm working in. I'm learning how to work efficiently in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, coordinating with colleagues across different practice groups and offices to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
I've been impressed by how approachable and supportive colleagues are, even at the senior level. Despite being a global firm, DLA Piper fosters a team-oriented environment. Colleagues are willing to help each other, and there's a strong emphasis on mentorship and professional development.
What has surprised you most about DLA Piper?
I've been surprised by how much hands-on experience and responsibility I've been given so early into my time at the firm. I'm trusted to take ownership of tasks, interact with clients, and contribute meaningfully to major matters.
Do you have any advice for students aspiring to pursue a career in law?
Be resilient and stay committed. A legal career is competitive, and rejection is part of the process. Learn from setbacks and keep improving. Also stay open to different legal career paths - whether in private practice, in-house, government, or even alternative legal roles.
