The role

This Enterprise Risk and Assurance specialist role will enable you to work within DLA Piper’s Risk and Resilience team as part of the wider International Risk Group. The role will have a dual focus of (i) to support ERM activities including risk identification, assessment and assurance and (ii) act as the custodian of our risk systems, analysis and reporting.

  1. Reporting to the Enterprise Risk Managers (London) the Enterprise Risk and Assurance Specialist plays a crucial role in mitigating enterprise risks that could impact DLA Pipers’ strategic, business, and operational objectives. The specialist creates and protects value by providing subject matter expertise in risk identification and management, as well as offering objective assurance insight across all enterprise risk activities. 
  2. You will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely reporting of risk-related information to senior management, and other stakeholders. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance risk reporting processes and drive transparency across the firm.

Whilst this role is predominantly focussed on stakeholder engagement and reporting, through collaboration with the wider ERM team, we are looking for someone interested in further developing their skills around the use of data and the way we can enhance our data analytics to provide increasingly valuable insight on risk. 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise Risk

  • Support the Enterprise Risk Team in delivering the objectives and activities for the roll-out of the risk programme.
  • Work with SMEs and stakeholders in the development and ongoing maintenance of their risk registers using our existing software tool.

Assurance 

  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, including specialist monitoring and challenge to the management of specific areas of risk.  
  • Supporting root cause analysis exercises into major risks identified across the firm.
  • Support the production, tracking and analysis of key risk indicators.

Data Governance and Quality

  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in risk reporting.
  • Implement data quality controls and address any data issues promptly.

Risk Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare regular risk reports, including key risk indicators (KRIs), risk exposure, and stress testing results.
  • Analyse risk data to identify trends, anomalies, and emerging risks.
  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams to validate and enhance models used for reporting.
  • Communicate risk insights effectively to IRG Management and other stakeholder as required.
  • Support the production of executive summaries and presentations for risk-related meetings.
  • Address inquiries related to risk reporting from internal and external stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously enhance risk reporting processes by leveraging automation and technology.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual efforts.
  • Participate in projects related to risk system enhancements and upgrades.

ABOUT YOU

  • A good understanding of practical implementation of risk methodologies and at least 5 years’ experience with risk and control activities at a delivery and support level.
  • Degree qualified in risk management, business management or related discipline preferred.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver high quality reports and papers to a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Inquisitive, confident, and organised in managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Logical thinking, quick learner and action orientated.
  • A helpful and positive manner, with an optimistic, open, pragmatic and flexible approach to change.
  • Experience of data analysis and data visualisation using tools such as PowerBi or Python desirable.
