Global leader
For the ninth consecutive year, DLA Piper earned the top legal advisor ranking globally for overall M&A deal volume in 2018, according to Mergermarket’s league tables. DLA Piper was also ranked number one by Thomson Reuters in its 2018 M&A deal volume ranking. With these results, DLA Piper consolidates its position as a leading global legal advisor.
Deserved recognition
In 2018 Asian Legal Business shortlisted DLA Piper for three awards at the Asian Legal Business Southeast Asia Law Awards. These included our Singapore office being shortlisted for M&A Deal of the Year, and Oscar Franklin Tan, Senior Associate from our Singapore office being recognised as a candidate for Young Lawyer of the Year.
Managing complexity
In 2018 we advised Experian, the Dublin-based global information services company and other investors on the US$28 million Series C investment in Singapore-based C88 Financial Technologies Group. This was one of the largest venture capital Series C fintech rounds in Southeast Asia. The transaction involved multiple jurisdictions including the US and Southeast Asia.
Investing for growth
In January 2019 we strengthened further our Corporate and Finance offering with the appointment of Philip Lee as a partner in our Corporate practice, based in Singapore. Luke Gannon, our Head of Corporate, Asia, stated: “Philip’s hire is part of our continued investment in Singapore, a key financial hub for South East Asia.”
