Our achievements
Preventing human trafficking
We work in partnership with Liberty Asia, a non-profit organisation, with the aim of preventing human trafficking through legal advocacy in collaboration with NGOs, corporations and financial institutions in Southeast Asia.
Helping those in need
As a part of our pro bono activities, we advised Second Harvest, a non-profit organisation, on providing a food bank in Japan and in other Asian countries.
Team spirit
In 2018 we represented Asahi Shuzo in the acquisition of the site for the company’s first sake brewing facility outside of Japan. The 52,500 square feet location is adjacent to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. The brewery will also include retail space and be open for public tours. The Japan-based brewer is the maker of Dassai premium Junmai Daiginjo sake.
M&A expertise
In 2018, DLA Piper Tokyo and DLA Piper Canada acted on behalf of Nippon Paper Industries, Marubeni Corporation and Daishowa North America Corporation in the sale of their shares in the jointly-owned Daishowa-Marubeni International to Mercer International.
