The Senior Marketing & BD Manager plays an instrumental role in shaping the growth of Business Advisory and supporting the business and its growth objectives. The responsibilities of the role cover brand, marketing, communications and business development. This is a global role that supports both the UK/EU and Australian advisory teams. The role also works closely with the DLA Piper global MBD team.

The SBDM is a key member of the Business Advisory Leadership team and works with the management team and service leaders across the international business. The primary function of the role is to create mindshare and build awareness of Business Advisory both internally within DLA Piper and externally in the market and support the advisor team to sell services.

You will have 15+ years of relevant Marketing and Business Development experience. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy, both internally and externally, for the business overall and the solution offerings in order to build the Business Advisory brand and sell services
  • Articulate the strategy in an annual marketing plan and calendar
  • Manage internal and external communications programs
  • Work closely with regional and solution leads in all geographies to support their sales program
  • Drive the digital and social media presence of Business Advisory
  • Development of appropriate client-centric sales support materials
  • Develop and implement enablement tools to provide sales teams useful supporting data (e.g., post-engagement feedback framework and ​credentials database
  • Develop standardised pitch materials for access by DLAP pitch team and Business Advisory solution teams
  • Develop strong relationships within the DLA Piper MBD global and regional teams
  • Work with the DLA Piper Business Advisory leadership team on sales pipeline
  • Identify and develop opportunities for thought leadership
  • Manage a small team of MBD professionals

  • Experience of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Flexible approach to your work including working ‘odd’ hours sometimes due to global team
  • A deep knowledge of, and experience in professional services MBD, including new business processes, digital marketing, CRM and new technologies to help win and retain work
  • Comfortable with ambiguity as we grow and develop
  • Ideally have experience of launching new products/services to the market
  • A real collaborator and team player, who thrives when interacting within a high-calibre team
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Understands the importance of a consultative sales process
  • An appreciation of the complex culture of professional services firms (law firm experience is a plus)
