VAT Reporting:

  • Play a leading role in developing and implementing DLA Piper’s indirect tax technology strategy, ensuring we maximise our opportunity to implement best practices and tools across the entire International firm;
  • In this respect, scope to include e-invoicing and e-reporting requirements in addition to more traditional VAT reporting methods.
  • Work with finance teams located across DLA International to ensure local VAT reporting processes are robust, well-documented  and undertaken by staff with the necessary skills and expertise required
  • Focus particularly on utilising tax technology to streamline VAT reporting processes, enabling finance staff to shift their focus higher up the value chain to review and analysis rather than preparation and data handling;
  • Provide oversight to finance leadership on our VAT reporting compliance globally through regular monitoring of our filing processes, again utilising technology for this purpose.

General VAT Compliance:

  • Work closely with the firm’s International VAT Manager to provide VAT support across the international firm as, when and wherever that is required
  • Keep abreast of the evolving world of VAT reporting to ensure DLA is aware of upcoming requirements and can plan to comply with these
  • Provide support to other members of the group and international tax team as required
  • Provide training to financial managers where appropriate (focus again on technology and controls aspects)

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA or relevant equivalent) or Tax Advisor (CTA or equivalent)
  • Appreciation of indirect tax/VAT principles, risks and a willingness to learn more
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and experience of VAT reporting systems/processes
  • Self-motivated, logical and organised approach to work
  • Keen eye for detail, with an interest in how technology can be utilised in tax reporting
  • Agile and proactive
  • Comfort in operating in sometimes ambiguous situations, demonstrating a flexible and collaborative personal working style
  • Ability to multi-task and work to conflicting timescales on multiple priorities in a robust and fast-paced environment
  • Keen to build up relationships with members of the other finance teams
